Spare Tire
Looked at a black E55 Saturday. As expected, it had no spare tire. Has anyone solved this problem? On my C32, I just use one of my snow tires or regular tires for a spare depening on the season. Is the E55 spare tire depression in the trunk large enough to do this? I don't think I will spend $80,000 on a car that I cannot have a spare tire in.

The lack of a spare tire does not bother me --- if indeed there isn't one. I have not changed tires in over 10 years. The few flats I had were handled by tire sealant which is a whole lot more convenient.

E320's and E500's have a spare...the E55 has no spare as the car has "run flat" tires. Many have purchased a cheap wheel and tire combo for a spare to put in the empty well. BTW, the car still has a jack.

Really? That is good news. But I thought I saw one with Conti's which are not run flat.

Stiffer sidewalls usually and possibly higher priced. Tire pressure monitoring system is manditory since no visual indication of low pressure.

Whoops! The dealer actually told me that the tires were "run flat" and now that you mention it....I realize that they definitely are not "run flats". One thing for sure is that my spare tire well is empty...

All the W211 has is a canister of German Fix-o-flat that didn't work when I had a blowout. I called Telaid who had a service guy call me to tell me nothing could be done. He then sent a flat bed to tow my car to the dealer. Two days later I picked up my car to find a $600 bill includind $140 for the tow and $460 for a new Conti Sportcontact 265 rear tire mounted and balanced. They said towing is not covered since a flat is a roadside hazard and is not under warranty. After I raised holy hell, they dropped the bill in half, which was still about $100 higher than if I took the wheel off and brought it to a tire place a few blocks from where I got the flat. A few weeks later I got a letter from the dealer stating the part I ordered had arrived. I went ther and found out they ordered a new cannister of German Fix-o-flat. They wouldn't let me take it until I paid the $57 for it. I told them to shove it right up their asses and when questioned what I would do now if I got a flat, I told them I now carry an extra wheel and tire in my trunk because I never want to be stranded with a flat again.
Trust me, from experience I know there is no spare and these are definitely not run-flats.

My Ford coverage includes any towing, flat repair, spare tire changing, gas etc.
Send a letter or email to MBUSA if you have not. THAT IS AWFUL!

I confirmed this with MBUSA when I called to complain. MB will send a roadside asst to come fix the flat with their cannister, change the tire, or arrange for a tow. The tow, however will be at owner's expense unless it is a tire warranty issue.

Or am I missing the point?
