any go from a e55 to e63amg twin turbo
just curious if any of you here with e55's moved up to the 12 up e63. Had a few moments where I thought of getting one. I don't even drive my car now so not sure if its worth it. I know my interior looks way nicer then the new cars

+1 have a look through the 212 forum. There are quite a few opinions both for and against. Some of them are buried in other seemingly unrelated threads unfortunately. Or post a new thread.

Fwiw when the 12-13 ml63's drop into my price range I'm buying one. The m278/m157 engines so far have proven to be well built and reliable and it is so easy to make big (for mb) power. For me it's like a m275 with decent turbos, throttle response and no coil packs.
Buy one and slap a pair of gt28's on it

If you already think that your interior and dated electronics look better than the current interior then you will only be disappointed by the current generation vehicles. Maybe you should wait for the 2017 and beyond E class AMG model

The new interiors are beautiful but he's right, the W211 interior has not aged a day, it just hasn't dated. Look at a W210 vs a W211 and clearly the W210 looks OLD inside but put a W212 and W211 interior side by side and you cannot tell it's a new generation if you haven't seen them before. The W211s interior to be honest is it's greatest part. The only thing I would do different is raise the dashboard height a little for a more vaulted feel, but not change the design in any way. The W211 interior is simply PERFECTION, timeline, truly FAULTLESS. It just stomps on BMWs, Audis, Maseratis etc.

What's wrong with the nav? I've used so any new navigation systems and I'm a young guy but this comand nav is just simpler and better to use while driving. It takes me where I need to go, what more do you want? It looks nice too, a very simple, timeless interface (navigation). Now regarding the rest of the interface, yes, it's dated but guess what....NTG 2.5 !! Do the NTG 2.5 and it looks beautiful, the nav is beautiful and it does everything. I don't wanna go on the net in my car, my headunit isn't a tablet and I don't want it to be. The COMAND NTG 2.5 would be perfection on the W211. Not sure what you mean about radio, I don't listen to the radio. I use the AUX or CDs.
The W212's navigation system is retarded, the screen is scrammed into a cubby hole, shorter passengers can't see the whole screen if the seat is too low. So stupid. The pre-facelift C63 screen was nice, sitting clearly and then what did they do? Put in into a box. It's tiny too, BMWs have way bigger screens and so do Audis.
My point is, the W211 exterior could have been way better but the interior is simply PERFECTION. The ergonomics are phenomenal. Again, the only thing I would change is the height of the dashboard. Same design and everything, just higher for a sportier, more vaulted feel. That's one thing I like about the pre-facelift C63 interior, you put the seat all the way down and you just feel so vaulted! The dashboard is so muscular and the screen is positioned beautifully. Of course they f**ked that interior up in the facelift.

The 2017 will carry lots of c class interior details and bits and maybe some s class bits ...and an overwhelmingly number of people have said the new Benz interior is bliss sans the tacked on iPad. The e class interior likely will not disappoint in 2017 and if does disappoint the op, he needs to keep his w211 forever or wait for another car

Throwing in a late-model head unit helps a lot. It's the material quality of the W211 that I love. I drove a new C63S and when I moved the console cover I realized it's cheap plastic. Other than that it's a fantastic car. It's difficult to judge as it's all personal preference. The W211 didn't feel old to me till I drove the new car. But that's mainly a styling thing as with an P030 steering wheel and new head unit most of the feel parts are updated on the W211. I actually think it's the exterior that has aged the best. The E63 W211 just looks sexy IMO. The 2012-2013 AMGs didn't look aggressive enough for me. Hard to tell them apart from the regular E-class.

The e63 front looks aggressive the back loses that unfortunately
Updating the steering wheel on the 55 helps a lot, even just putting paddles makes it look newer

07' SL65, 04' E55, 03' Evo8, 08' GSXR, DSM's...
I've taken one out on a spirited drive, and the only reason i would switch would be for the 4matic on the E63s, which i may do here eventually. IMO, other than that i don't feel there is any reason to make the switch.

Personally, I very much ADORE the W212 interior, it's gorgeous and better than BMWs and Audis without question. I'm just saying the W211 just didn't age. So they're both good. Contrast that to say a W210 interior which I just wouldn't want to be in, that looks old. The W211 interior is timeless but I do love the W212s, so VAULTED and cosy. I love it. Pre and post-facelift. The W212 is definitely the better car. It's nicer outside too. The W211 however is TIMELESS, will never age or get old.
I agree with you on all points and always appreciate your perceptive e500sir!
