I have this exact setup from this exact seller and for over the past 8 or more months it has worked flawlessly

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Simpl...961495571.html

You will be hard pressed to find a cheaper one with the same quality

All you then need to do is buy a cheap Dell D630/D620 laptop for ~$50 and your away laughing

i thought the c4 did more vehicles than the c3. The listing you sent shows vehicles "1989-now," so that would imply every MB vehicle?... so what is the difference between the c3 that you linked and the c4 that I linked?

C4's have been known to be flaky

The C3 I posted above is cheap and will do everything you want it to do for your 03 E55

End of the day it's your call what you buy, I just proposed the option above to possibly save you a few bucks with a unit that does everything you would need it to do and works without any hiccups

On an '06 so far - enable cornering fogs, change alarm chirp volume and style, enable SBC Hold, actuate individual modules to confirm proper operation, turn off front corner strips, proper brake flush, change auto wipers behavior, and dev mode goodies.

Could you elaborate on which control modules you did these changes?

I don't know the menu paths off the top of my head but just recognize it when I'm using it. DAS's menus are so nested I just had to use it over and over until it became 'muscle memory'. One thing - if you go into CGW, dev mode menu and change the region setting to rest of world you will automatically get some of the 'upgrades'. Believe SBC-H is simply tied to this for example. Most of the other personalizations should be in the Body modules, just go in and out of the menus until you recognize the desired parameter.

Oh ok. I have the ROW features enabled just as you have (sidemarkers, cornering fogs, sbc hold, sunroof autoclose etc), just never stumbled on adjustments for the alarm chirp volume and pattern as well as the wipers.
You're right, ROW unlocks so many cool functions in some of the other modules. I wish we could also get SBC-Stop on our 06 cars or the flashing brake lights like the 07 63s. I'll dig around next time i hook up to this car for those 2 options.

Despite enabling sunroof auto close mine doesn't actually auto close...either with water on rain sensor or manually closing. How does yours auto close?

Chirp vol and pattern is in a menu that had something to do with weight sensing system I think. Wipers I can't remember at all. Agreed would love sbc stop too

Mine actually tilts the sunroof rather than closing all the way. I've seen it triggered with the car parked and locked when it starts to drizzle. I also recently accidentally triggered it at a gas station when I was cleaning the windshield with a squeegee. The car was not locked at the time though.

so apparently, the c4 does more vehicles than the c3 unit. Which seller is forum-recommended for a working c4?

I just don't understand why he charges so much. I can understand making some money sure, thats what capitalism is all about. But $500 is a pretty large difference. Does anyone know what the difference is having purchased from him versus what is listed here?

I purchased mine from Shardul. Not sure of the other ones but I can tell you that with his it was "plug & play".. I received the laptop and everything was loaded. Connected to the car and it was working. The only thing it doesn't do is connect to 2013 cls550 but other than that I've used it on my E55 and an S class. Plus it has wis

+1 on Shardul.

I've called him several times about other issues and he has always been gracious and steered me in the right direction.

The last time I spent 10 minutes on the phone with Shardul, I PayPal'd him $20 because he literally saved me thousands of dollars. I was expecting to spend over $1800 and, thanks to Shardul's insistence, the final fix was under $20.

Shardul is an honorable man and that means much in my opinion. He puts customer satisfaction ahead of personal gain.

I tried ordering with a debit card and a credit card and both were declined? Is there some trick to get the payment to go through?
