Just an update.
The car was on Copart after the bids only got to $2250 the day it was to end as a pure sale, meaning no reserve, and they ended the listing before allowing it to sell. Well they then relisted it for another 35 days.
Now I am planning to buy the car back and have been tracked down by 2 people who have used the forum to locate me and ask about the car and their intentions to buy it. I do kindly ask even though this is a free world and are welcome to just give me the finger. But please don't bid to increase the cost to me or to out bid me to purchase MY car.
I lost this car due to no fault of my own. I was hit by a roughly 17-18 driver while going 10mph down a turn lane. As you all know this color combo is the epitome of "unicorns", nearly fully optioned (just missing rear door shades/keyless go), and as you can tell I have spent a ton of $$$$ on this car.
I was unable to remove any items from the car and so as it sits it is LOADED with nearly anything you could want and imagine a E55 should have to go fast. I got screwed by the insurance company and battled from July to Dec to get more money. I basically got book plus $1k. I had 100% documentation and pics for $30k in mods alone.
I again kindly request everyone allow me the respect to get my baby back. I would hope you would feel the same way about any of your cars if put in the same situation.

Just out of curiosity why didn't you just buy the car back from the insurance company before you settled? You always have that option, they can't send it to Copart until an agreement is reached.

I really hope you are able to get your car back. The way you have it setup is mint. Hopefully your next update will be a pic with it back in your garage.

Too late for you, but something for others to consider if they end up in the same situation and don't want to bid against others to get their baby back. Good luck!
Also, when my Infiniti was totaled out, I asked if I could go get some custom parts off the car, and they said they didn't care. I went to the storage lot and unbolted a bunch of little things.

This. When my truck was "totaled", I asked if I could keep it and the insurance carrier offered me a lower amount based on how they thought they might sell the vehicle in its wrecked condition. Had I accepted, that would have kept the vehicle in my name and no auction or re-sale.

Sorry your stuck in the middle of it now, but if unfortunately ever again your in the situation the car can absolutely be "bought" by you. The only thing I could imagine why they didn't offer it would be possibly if one has a lien to holder.

i really dislike state farm. this is exactly them...you cannot buy your car back unless through auction and any parts you want to take off you will have to replace...car needs to be running and rolling or as it came in after accident.
also you need to talk to the tow yard to see if you can do all of this as they must allow it.
state farm is garbage.

I hate to hear you got such a raw deal. The car should have never made it to Copart unless you agreed to have it released to them. I had the same situation with my Lexus a couple of years ago. I got to keep it but I had to fight for it. I have to wonder if the employees are ignorant of your options as the owner or if it is just easier for them to sell it as salvage. They do tend to make more money from salvaging than settling (especially on nice cars). Sorry things didn't work out better for you.

Same here re: buyback option via State Farm. Granted this was 20 years ago, so rules may have changed. Also, back then: I had the car towed directly to my house/into my garage. Made sure it was still very clean/spotless to get max condition value from the appraiser who came over. It was totalled, and I opted to not buy it back.
However, a few things were different when it was towed away (two days later) than when it was appraised...functioning CD changer in trunk swapped out for a non-functioning one, Turner performance chip swapped back out for stock, clear lens OEM euro taillights and side markers swapped out for the stock OEM USA ones I kept, and a few other items removed (including 1 month old OEM floormats) that I later sold.
Always good if possible to have it towed home and not to a yard...

A lot of the "buy back" option depends on the state where insured. Some States do not allow a buy back settlement on "totaled" vehicles, I know Florida has to "total" and mark non-repairable on title if the repair costs are higher than the retail value of the car. I found that out when I got rear ended in my 87 E300D Wagon (a true unicorn). there was $6000 damage, but because I had 450+K miles (even though it ran it looked like it had just come off the showroom floor) was valued at only $3K. I wanted to buy it back because I loved that car.

I'm not sure if it was your car but. I saw it for sale at auction. FIXED. Someone fixed it and threw it back onto the auction for sale. I think it was your car cause the wheels looked very similiar. This was about a week ago.

Assume the trunk hopefully still has the trunk tank and the CF interior?
Killer Chiller still installed???
CF interior and the light on the cover turns green when the meth sprays.
Trunk tanks used to look like this
Rear Arnotts should be there
Red pullies should be on it
