This place is a joke.
They "will" fit but not look right. They are also a bit tall, and with the lack of low end torque on the 6.3 acceleration will suffer. 285 will look a bit squeezed on the stock wheel. The 285's really need a 9.5" minimum. Stick with a 275 max. on the stock rim.

Does 285 help with traction? E55 needs all it can get

Of course wider tires will help. 285 is a good size, it's still way below what will fit in the rear but a good increase. I would go with 265 in the front to minimize under-steer as well.

Is it? I thought the E63 rear end was different to the E55 is it not?

E63 has different axle ratio, but otherwise the rear end identical.

FWIW I have a W211 CDI with AMG 8.5 ET30 on 235/40-18 on the front, and 9.5 ET33 in the rear w 285/35-18's. It a good fit, but if you really want those 285's I would go with the 9.5 wide rims.
