are you in the USA? thats covered under a 15 year warranty extension and you would get a complete tank with all new parts.

Yes, bring it to any dealer and tell them you have a fuel smell/leak and they will replace the tank and all internal parts free of charge.

Mercedes
Your dealer "is not doing the fuel system warranty repairs anymore"???

You need to call another dealer. Or if you have to use that scam dealer, instruct them to do the repairs and you pay for them out of pocket. Then mail the bill to MBUSA for reimbursement.

Mercedes
Do not spend any of your time or money fixing this. Have Mercedes dealer replace entire tank, along with fuel sender and pump.

Call your dealer back up and tell them you want brand new tank and new sender and new pump. If they refuse, then send a letter to NHTSA explaining that Mercrdes is refusing to honor its settlement. Hell I'll even write the letter for you. Just get audio/video or an email showing the dealer refusing to fix your car, and I'll write up the rest. The BS that Mercedes is doing about these fuel issues is absurd.

That's like $900 worth of parts for just the fuel pump assembly and fuel sender, and that's if you order from an online company. I don't even know what a new tank costs.

...

so ATK , what did you end up doing? I have the same identical problem as you do, damn it sux , i REALLY DID get beat by a civic yesterday with the car stalling at 4300rpm !! driving me nuts!! MBZ stealer told me same thing ... pay them $200 to diagnose it and MAYBE they will do the work for free. They also admited that they changed my gas tank and pump in 2016 right before i bought the car... i'm on the fence on what to do... pay them the $200 to diagnose it and hope i don't loose out , buy another one myself for $500 and do the work or upgrade it to a high performance pump ( if they make one for this car)....
Did you figure out why this happened in the 1st place? with me i'm pretty sure when I got it tuned they f**ked up on the fuel because my pressure is 9psi and i think that's why my plug melted since it's sending too much current to the pump and I only have the stock injectors.. bit not 💯 % sure so just curious if you also have the stock injectors or not or did it happen after you got the car tuned???...I just really want to avoid this from ever happen again if possible...
ANY INPUT FROM ANYONE IS MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!
