A little off topic, but MB engine related
I got my hands on a 278 motor that a local dealer(non MB) trashed due to installing the wrong oil filter. I brought it home to tear it down, and witness the carnage of oil starvation! I will update with pictures as I get it torn down to determine the seized components.

Well, I made a little progress on the tear down of this engine. The motor could not be turned over with a 1/2" breaker bar, but with a 5' cheater bar it broke free! The motor now spins as it should(well kind of). The worst wear/ damage I have found is in the main bearings. All other bearing surfaces look pretty good.
The main bearing surfaces on the crank look great!
The cams, and cam covers look pretty good as well. No terrible carnage to this point.

As of right now I know it needs main bearings. I am going to remove the heads, and cams to make sure there is no cylinder wall damage. Then only reason I would fix it would be to stick it in some place tight, and light.

So, I wanted to see how big the throttle body is for this motor. I did not have my calipers handy so I grabbed the tape measure. The TB measures 3 5/16" . That comes out to an 84mm TB. This may find its way on to my E55!

I am bored with it now that there is no significant carnage. I was hoping to have parts friction welded together. What a let down.
