P0444 code help

Anyone know what it takes to fix this P0444 code? I know it's the evap canister circuit code but is it hard to replace? I have also read that it could be a voltage issue of the cicuit being shorted. I have recently had my tank and pumps replaced due to the fuel smell recall. Is it possible the dealer may have caused it?

Is this the error that says gas cap not tight or something? Where is that part located?

No, the red gas cap light is not on just the check engine light. When I scanned it the code was P0444.
It looks like the evap valve is just to the right of the drivers side intake tube.
I was asking if anyone has had to trouble shoot this problem before or change this part. It doesn't look hard but I don't know if there is something that I have to do with a DAS machine since I don't have access to one.

They could have left one of the hoses loose or not properly connected on top of the tank that go to the canister.

Can I get to these without dropping the tank?

Vapor Canister Purge Valve fixed my Po455 and red gas cap/flashing fuel pump xmas tree. It is right behind Left side headlamp.. also check the the left side vacuum line that runs next to fuel rail towards the back where rubber and metal hose connect together, I found that disconnected more than once, I put a metal hose clamp on it and it is not going any where now.

Good info Vader, So you are referring to the vacuum hose that goes to the fuel pressure regulator i am assuming?

That valve behind driver headlight was just a replacement? Any fuel smell in the car before the swap?

yes and yes it is a two minute job to replace the VCPV behind the driver side headlamp (not to be confused with the charcoal canister behind the passenger side rear wheel). I did have some codes and some gas smell inside car only when I would be sitting idle for a long while on hot day with AC on. It is rarely the gas cap for this issue which I did replace but not the culprit.

I get no vapor smell when driving or idling. But, I sometimes get the fuel smell when I am sitting in the car while pumping gas. But, nothing when you drive off its normal. I get the P042 I think it says small vapor leak code once in awhile if I fill up all the way.

Any idea what it could be? I'm so **** about my car and making sure its always in tip top shape.

Vader already covered it, but for the rest, here's a handy cheat sheet:

If the purge valve is bad you can get gas saturation in the charcoal canister which could be the source of the vapor leak. I would do the purge valve for 65 bucks before anything else. My second guess would be the fuel filler neck.

Check this below.

Could filler neck cause the code for vapor leak? Maybe both things you mentioned?

They run about 120 bucks on ebay, looks like a tough install. Do you have to drop the gas tank and remove a bunch of stuff to replace the filler neck? Im guessing the entire assembly or just one specific part?

Yes it could. You can get a smoke test done by a competent shop. If you have not replaced the purge valve since you bought your car then you need to that first. if that does not fix it then it is going to be either filler neck or charcoal cannister.

ps. I just installed a new crank sensor yesterday as my car did not start after shopping. Waited 10 minutes and it fired up went home and scanned the crank sensor code.I did have some oil on the barrel of the sensor when I removed it so the rear main seal leaking - not uncommon for our cars. I did notice some more HP for sure though
