E500 5.5 litre V8 UK 08 plate - Starting Problems

E500 5.5 litre V8 UK 08 plate - Starting Problems I have an intermittent starting problem. The car is happy to do a cold start but after driving and leaving for an hour or so it won't start. It does turn over and cranks. I have tried the spare key, I have changed the CPS twice! Full service new plugs and filters.

I seem to be running out of options!!

Original Star diagnostics is not finding any faults.

Please can someone offer any advice or ideas of what to try next. It's cost me a fortune getting this far and I'm back to square one!!

start with basics. check fuel pressure when its not starting

No. There is no fuel pressure sensor.

Thanks @rocman8 i'll check with the mechanic but I did see them manually test the pressure

Did you replace the CPS with an OEM Bosch or an cheapo eBay Chinese copy?

Get an OEM one in if you haven't already and get a fuel pressure test as advised above.

@jonny English both times with CPS's from Mercedes Dealership so the real deal! will get the garage to check fuel pressure again. Thanks

The mechanic who changed the CPS also said that it could be a problem in the CPU with the fuel pump relay....I hope not ...cant afford a new CPU!

Just to make it clear you have a 2008 non amg with a 273 motor correct? It is plausible the engine control unit and or the relay is faulty. There were problems with early 273 control units causing no fuel pump relay activation.

Ok so technically you are in the wrong forum since none of the cars in this forum have your engine. There may be a lot more help in the non amg forum once you get more info from the mechanic.
