New 09 E63 AMG Owner
I am new to the w211 forum but an old w203 member. Its been about 2 months that Ive had the E for. Purchased it from Walnut Creek of MBZ with 57k miles and got the engine and tranny extended warranty. Compared to all the other E63s around the area they had 90-110k on them. One owner (older man who was tired of driving this beast around). So far this car has been ABSOLUTELY AMAZING for lack of words. Now I understand how the 6.2 is such an iconic engine. Coming from a 07 C230 2.5 V6 200hp to 09 E63 V8 6.2 507HP is crazy. Ive been lurking the 211 threads for a while now and finally wanted to introduce myself. So far ive done a couple of small mods.
Flat hood AMG badge and LED License plate lights and door puddle lights thanks to AZNOptics.
Looking to buy an X pipe this week and reading up on a good tune. Hopefully looking to meet some members from here and being active on the forum.
Here are a couple of pictures and a short video of some hoonage (still trying to tame this beast)

Cheers

I got an '09 with P30 I was chasing for over a year back in august. One owner and still under ELW til 9/2016. This forum and the W211 folks specifically are a great bunch. Much info and assistance while I narrowed down my criteria. Sage advice; you'd do well to follow it when it's given by trusted members. '55's are prevalent, but 63's get some love too. If you are looking for drivetrain info, the C63 section is helpful as well.
Mine has 50k miles and going into shop Friday for airmatic. Luckily under warranty. Had a keyless door handle replaced too. These two things are typical on the 63's. Gotta do brakes pretty soon, but will do those myself. If you haven't done the research on that yet, grab your wallet. Since I have an MB ELW, the only mods I've done is changed to the ROW boxes and filters. Haven't had enough time with them to give any real impressions yet. Not expecting anything really tangible. Other mods are cosmetic: metal AMG door pins, AMG staticaps, ordered a CF lip, paint correction, etc. Tubes and tune possible when ELW is up.
A drivetrain warranty is a good idea; you never know what M156 you may get. Most are solid as a rock. Some aren't. I'm sure you know what the issues are. Since my ELW is up in Sept '16 and I can't extend, if you don't mind me asking, who did you get the drivetrain warranty from? I'm debating on what to do when mine goes out of warranty.
Again, congrats. Even with the maintenance and repair costs, I still love my '63. It's a gorgeous car and tight as a drum. It's better than I thought it would be. I just wish it was black, like yours!

I have the easy care warranty, with a 500 deductible. I am really debating on tuning the engine though, I was reading the eurocharged tune could be undetected by the dealer if you switch the setting. Not 100% positive on that but I am still doing lots of research before I touch the engine. Cosmetics are slowly but surely coming.
I'm just hoping nothing turns for the worst, trying to take care of this one just as much if not even more than my C. I feel like I had the 203 class figured out and this is a whole another ball game.
You have a low mileage E, very rare to find. You mentioned ROW boxes? What type of numbers are expected from those?
Really, I dig the car enough that I just like tinkering with it and enjoying the engineering aspect of it. I'll upgrade the brakes shortly when I change them, also probably x-pipe, minor stuff like that. If I wanted to do a bunch of serious modding, I'd get a '55. In addition to the '63, of course. I'd probably kill myself an a '55........

Ahhh gotcha. Well im actually meeting up with a member tomorrow to take a look at an X pipe. By any chance do you know if removing the secondary cats and resonator throw a code?
The private lounge is an amg owner exclusive forum that you'll need to register your VIN to become a member of. Not connected to MB world; I think it is connected directly to MB. I'm a member there, but spend most of my time here. Much more info here, IMO. If you get too technical over there, the stock answer by the PL team is to see your dealer service dept.

But as I said, I am a member. It is worth joining. I'm a member of the MB club and local chapter too. I personally just have the most fun here
And Mightar, LOVE that wagon.

Make sure your warranty will cover cams, lifters, adjusters, and headbolts. Have fun with it though.

Regarding the AMG Calendar, you had to ask for it via the instructions called out by the AMG PL. It's their way to entice members to keep visiting the forum. That said though, most of the swag I have received come from attending an official Private Lounge event (which are free). I'm just fortunate to live an hour from Laguna Seca. Also, AMG PL members get a 20% discount on AMG Academy courses, so like you said, there's definitely a benefit to being a member (and it's free, so it's really a no brainer). I'm hoping to land a slot in 2016, but they fill up fast.
