Header replacement... but only one side
Hey all,
In the process of replacing the tank under warranty on my 2005 E55 (60,000 miles and a nice weather ride) the local dealer managed to crack my drivers side header. Rather than removing the exhaust, they just pulled it down to slide the tank out.
They are offerring to replace the driver side header as they claim that the passenger side is unharmed.
Is there any harm in replacing a header only on one side meanwhile the other has 60k miles? Im afraid of uneven flow, etc.
Please chime in with any advice. Thanks in advance!

That will not pose a problem. I would tell them to go ahead and replace the one side.
On the other hand, I would ask about the labor they charged you. Did they charge you based on doing the job right and pulling the headers, or did they charge you for doing it the "easy" way? Don't pay full price if they're taking short cuts!

Im just wondering if i should pursue the fight to get both replaced or will one side suffice... I'm also afraid that if the drivers side cracked that the passenger side definitely suffered as well...

Yes replacing 1 will be fine. If you are worried the other side was stressed as well and may be on its way to cracking very soon now then let them know that and see what they say.

Will do. And as far as the flow, no concerns about uneven flow maybe? Gunk build-up? Was there any re-design on these that we know of?
