Oil / Oil change question for my fellow E63 Owners
Hi All!
So I've owned my 2007 E63 for a year now and I've done 4 oil changes on her. When I drain the oil 6.5 quarts comes out but the owners manual states there's 9.3 quarts needed. When I refill it I put in 6.5 quarts and the dip stick reflects the oil level is full...
Now I'm seeing maybe once a month the car is stating the oil level is low and should be checked at the next refuel.
Since I purchased this car used I'm thinking maybe the dip stick is the wrong one? I measured it and it's 23 inches from the top of the handle to the end of the dipstick, can someone help me confirm by measuring theirs?
How much oil is being drained from other E63s? I highly doubt there's 3 quarts of oil left in the system / oil cooler when I drain it...
Thank You in advance!

Yep I've checked for oil leaks and there's absolutely none, which is a good thing![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thank you hachiroku, as I suspected about 9 quarts should be exiting the vehicle if that's what's supposed to be in there...
Any chance you can help me out and measure your dipstick Sir? Would help me out greatly!

The length of my dipstick from the base of the handle to the full mark is 20 7/8ths. Total length from the base of the handle to the end of the dipstick is 23 1/8th. Both of these measurements do not include the red handle. Just the portion of the dipstick that is essentially inside the tube and into the oil pan.

Does the E63/m156 have a dual sump like the E55/m113k?

It has the red cap and that twist on the dip stick, like I said I just purchased this from Fletcher Jones Mercedes so it's for sure your oil dipstick.
