2:82 gears or headers ?

i was thinking of doing a rear end gear swap or headers for a performance mod -- i am guessing it will be about the same cost either way... any thoughts on which one is a better way to go ?

Headers for sure. The stock manifolds are really bad.

headers for sure! Several have tried gears and they make the car feel torquier but if you want faster 0-60 or 1/4 then don't do it. Nobody I've seen has gone quicker with them. Probably better for roll races though.

mbh all the way. from there do the gears assuming you hook it will fly but guess what with my 3.06 gears I never have to floor the car it just flys and pulls hard. remember 122mph trap on spinning, cutting out shift and stock shift points something is working.

Yeah, but its possible to get a 185mm CP, Kleenman headers, 82mm TB, cooling upgrade, and tune car to run 128 on stock gears/open diff --- Just because you spin doesn't mean your cars faster even if you could get traction. It means your moved the torque curve where its less usable and wasted. Now despite the spinning how many MPH did you pick up from the 1/8th to 1/4 if that numbers larger then many stock diff'd cars you might have an argument that its beneficial. The 60ft times people are putting down in these cars are pretty good for any car, let alone a heavy 4 door sedan.

The title of the thread is called 2.82 gears.... It seems relevant to the title of the thread.

Yes I know. He wants to know headers or gears.
Point is 1forcedbenze is throwing an all Bolton car saying it can do it without gears. This has been beaten to death over and over and isn't relevant to the car his mods or questions.

Yeah, but who in this conversation has a stock trimmed car with just gears?! So any information is relevant. Headers do gain power and ET. Gears haven't showed that once in the information on this forum that I'm aware of. That's the point being made, so if someone is claiming it makes there car quicker let's see some facts.

Here is anothe vidoe from Russia. In short: both cars have same power: hp, tq and boost. But they have different gear ration. One car (the slower one) has a stock diff 2.65 but with lsd. The other car( the one that wins all the time, even from start) has 2.82 without any lsd.

SL55 has 2.82 gears, and it's the sportier model. It's around the same weight as E55 with pano roof.

Headers is a way better choice though. Same the gears until after upgrading a bit.

I wish i could buy it. Shipping is very expensive to my country. Does anybody know how much it weights?
In the video at the end they say diff from sl will not fit. Its not direct bolt on. Is that true?
