So you agree it doesn't matter which position it's on?

[QUOTE=knowbenz;6716622 Do you align your car at 60mph?

Hahaha [/QUOTE]

I actually find that amusing for a different reason. Experienced wheel alignment techs know how to adjust a car so the wheel alignment is correct at speed!!! The rolling resistance of the car at speed and the downforce of going at that speed moves the angles of the suspension and tyres around.

I would say if you drive in s2 majority of the time, then get your car aligned in that setting. The car will be in its lowest position sitting still in that setting. If you align in comfort or s1 then you will have slightly more camber driving 60+ because the car will be technically be in the s2 setting at those speeds no matter what you have your suspension set on. How is this so hard to figure out?

Yep exactly its down to how you drive the car if you feel you do majority at 65+mph you align it in sport 2. If you mainly use the car around town and all that then you align in comfort.

I aligned in comfort with mercedes crash bolts as I have modified ball joints and a non factory alignment.

Im convinced mercedes wheel alignment specs are BS.

My vote is that sport does effect ride height. I believe I read it in the FSM and have also seen it mentioned in various places by other guys as well.

Rule of thumb I was given is that 1 inch of ride height changes camber by 1 degree. Based on a 20mm drop in sport II, your camber may change by .75 degrees. I'm star lowered with alignment at -3.6 in the rear and I'm getting inner tire wear but not to the extent that I'll need to replace before hitting the wear points in the middle of the tire.

Link has good references to major systems of w211, some not specific to AMG, but most are potentially useful. Worth your time to explore.

Lowered

I bought air ride lowering links from Ebay had the car aligned in comfort made and mainly drive in comfort mode. I just spent last Saturday cutting through the canyons on highway 2 in Cali on sport 2 and didn't notice any abnormal tire wear. I have had my car lowered now for about six months and there is no indications that riding in sport 2 wears the tire differently then comfort. The only thing i can say is that when i do put it in sport 2 i tend to drive more aggressive, which can cause tire wear. The attach photos show how my car sits all the time.

Wow, the car looks great! I think my car sits at that height too. I believe the previous owner had lowered it. On local bad roads, the drive is very rough even in comfort mode, worst in S1/S2 mode. The worst is when accidentally I hit the pothole, it felt like there is no air suspension or the shock/struts went bad. Sometimes I have to raise it up to get smoother drive. I have no problem on highway. How was your drive before and after you installed the lowering link? I am thinking of resetting it back to stock level. I just don't what kind of work cost will be involved. In comfort mode, without raising your car up, what is the height from the ground to the top of the inner fender? Thanks.

I used to ride with in sport 2 all the time but after I lowered it I leave it in comfort. Comfort now feels like sport 2 before it was lowered and sport 2 now feels like sport 4

I believe the sport mode does more than just lowering the car :-)

S2 mode, 25" from ground to the highest inner point of the fender. Is this stock setting?
