2005 e55 AMG. I am looking to change the oil today, from what I heard I should use 5W-40 mobile 1?
Also I have a problem with the 8th cylinder, it is running 40 less psi then the rest. It goes into limp mode every now and then, when I restart the car its fine. This is a super sweet ride and I need pointers so I can get it running to its full potential. Thanks!

Should be 0W-40 Mobile 1 (european car formula) with Mann Fleece filter. As for the cylinder... that is a bad sign, possible worn/broken rings.

Awesome that's what I went with for the oil. & as for the cyclinder Do you think that's something I can take to the dealership and have them fix it? Or I might have some uncles who can look into it as well. Have you kept the same filter for the oil, just wash and reuse it?

WTF! Wash and reuse an oil filter? That's a first. Sorry dude but you prob bought this car modded or previously modded and the seller probably knowingly dumped this problem on to you. You are probably going to need an engine or rebuild.

This place is a joke.
Another E55 dies in the ricer stage.

Anyhow, welcome to the forums.

Your bad #8 likely means the engine is toast. Any repair at the dealer will cost more than the car is worth.

Lol yikes it all sounds upsetting. I did throw in a new oil filter. However the car still pulls really nice, I was just hoping it could be something minor with the cylinder that can be replaced or touched up. Like today the car had been running fairly good. Power is still there. I'll see if I can find a mechanic to look more into it & post something later if anything good comes. I won't mind spending some dough to get it fixed. Previous owner sold it for quite a fair price in my eyes.

The car still pulls nice due to the fact you now have a V7. The engine will need to be replaced due to #8 damage.

To make every body's response easier to read...you need a new engine, your engine is damaged.

Do you know what could happen if I still drove on this engine while I wait for a replacement?

Who did your compression test? What's the mileage? Ask an indy to perform a wet test also. It could be a stuck valve and not necessarily a blown ring land. Get it looked at before you start throwing money at it.
Washing oil filters????

Yeah I just thought I'd ask about the oil filter because I was told by someone that they've washed & reused it, unless if I was mistaken by what they said. I've never reused an oil filter on any other cars and I never did when I changed it yesterday. The miles are at 88k. & the previous owner had it tested at a shop he had known of, I forgot the name of the place but they just had let him know that it was the 8th cyclinder messing up, that's it. Where can I take it to get a wet test done? & I appreciate your feedback!

So you bought it knowing cyl 8 had low compression and did zero research on that? I hope you stole that car. Did he also tell you the mods done to the car?

Yeah he told me about the problem and that the 8th cyclinder isnt running all the best. I bought the car knowing that it needed some work done. It's not like I paid way too much for it. He took good care of the car, knew every little scratch and let me know of all the work he had done on it, along with reciepts. It was a risk I was willing to take, and I hadn't gone out there to look at the car by myself. I recieved feedback on what could be the problem, what can be done. If this doesn't work out I'll look for a replacement engine or any other solutions that suits best.

This place is a joke.
Maybe you misunderstood someone saying to wash and re-use the AIR filter, line a K+N oil soaked type.

I think you are mistaking a K&N Style Air filter for an oil filter. Oil filter gets changed out new. if you have the Oiled style Airfilters. they can be washed and re-oiled. Or what Greasemonkey just said

E55 running on all cylinders!!

I forgot to let everyone know what ended up being the problem. I was lead to a really good mechanic who figured out the problem in a day or two. O2 sensor was bad. Fix cost me just under $500. New sensors as well with new spark plugs. -> having a bunch of fun and enjoying my very own first car!

I could say an O2 sensor wouldn't affect a low compression cylinder, but instead I'll say glad you got it figured out, enjoy your car safely. Thanks for the follow up post too.
