AMG Challenge - Pocono - Proposed NJ Rendevous
Well ... AMG has finally charged my credit card (but no email confirmation yet!) so I guess it looks like I'm going on May 6.
Would anyone be interested in a central NJ rendevous on May 5 (lunch? GTG, etc.)? Pocono Raceway is about 2 hours from here and I know the way - might be fun to drive up a few AMGs together ... up Route 31 if you check your maps.
If your route from VA or other points south look like they'll take you thru NJ post here and let's talk. I will make an effort to get some hotel recommendations up there although I will be staying at a condo on Big Bass Lake about 20 minutes away.

That sounds like a good idea, but all of the routes I have checked take me through Baltimore then up route 476(toll road) to interstate 80 then to Pocono raceway. My wife cannot go to the track with me and spectate as per the AMG challenge rules listed so she wants a hotel that has some services or entertainment. If you have any recommendations I would greatly appreciate it. One of the ski lodges near Pocono mountain would probably be o.k. if it is convenient to the track.

I'll be at the challenge , I think though that I'll drive straight there in the morning. If everyone is staying at the same hotel - can someone post it, in case I change my mind.

Jimmy -- it's been sold out for about a month and they are working their way down a waiting list. If you like, I'll post my reservation number for you to use -- I didn't use it since I used a dealer code.

Stephen - Yeah, I could see that.
I drive to Charlottesville every once in awhile and it's a pretty straight shot but heading up to the Stroudsburg area you're better off on 476 - too bad.

7:00am – 7:30am Arrival and Registration
7:30am – 8:15am AMG Performance Driving “Chalk Talk”
8:20am – 10:30am Participants break out into four separate, rotating groups to study vehicle dynamics:
Race Technology
Slalom / Load Transfer
Threshold Braking / Brake and Turn
Skid Pad Vehicle Dynamics
10:45am – 11:25am Gourmet Catered Lunch
11:30am – 2:55pm Additional break out and rotation for the following activities:
Lead Follow using racing line orientation
AMG Hot Laps (with AMCI pro driver)
Timed autocross practice, racing line theory
3:15pm – 4:25pm Participant Open-Track Lapping
4:25pm – 5:00pm Awards Presentation / Champagne Toast
