Hey Guys,

I'm looking for someone who has either exploded view diagrams or instructions, or a DIY as to how to remove the supercharger clutch drum assembly.

I am planning on going Fixed Pulley and would really like to remove the large black clutch drum rotating assembly to further reduce rotational mass.

I don't drive the car often and I've got all of the cooling upgrades needed to go fixed pulley, so lets not make this a thread about to go or not to go fixed pulley.

If anyone has a service manual that has instructions, or if there is anyone that has done this themselves, please feel free to chime in. A few people say you need a special too, a few others say its a pain in the ***, and that's all okay with me, I don't mind putting in the efforts where I think the outcome will be beneficial.

thanks ahead of time,
Pete.

Your right Champ, let's not make this about the fixed pulley. Let's make this about where you think your going to mount your pulley to once you've removed the drum?!

I haven't pulled off the large drum to know? It sounds like you know what it looks like when the drum is off, do you have pictures? if so, what am I going to be in for?

I work in a custom CNC shop and I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, so I'm well equipped to design something that is structurally safe that can also be an adapter?

Please elaborate as to what's left when the drum is removed if you can. It will be greatly appreciated.

If you really ,really ,really need to do that ,first remove the two little pins ,then get a map torch and heat up the end of the shaft to the coupler to around 300F ,and with a large pair of gloves on simply pull it off,you will have to machine something to mount your fixed pulley, I have my old one on the bench if you want me to weigh it ,its not that heavy, and honestly ,your prob wasting your time.

The only thing that will be left is the smaller diameter shaft which the hub itself mounts to which inturn up sizes the shaft diameter for the pulley it's self to mount on. So without the drum your pulley has nothing to mount on nor the back stop for the pulleys depth. You could likely machine a coupler to adapt it. The magnetic part is somewhat heavy and I do think it would be beneficial to remove it. If you end up making something that will work I'd be willing to buy one or two. I run a fixed pulley on 2 vehicles.

I'd be willing to make a few if you're interested in it. I'll bring my car to the shop and see what's involved. Once I pull off the OEM pulley I'll hopefully see the two pins mentioned above and simply heat the hub of the drum to pull it off. I deal with a lot of shrink fits at work, I service large CNC machines and the housings almost always have shrink fitted bearings. Once I have the drum off, I'm going to assume there will be some form of a stubby shaft sticking out that I can work on creating my adapter to. The rest is simply making an adapter the correct length to line up the fixed pulley to the rest of the drive system.

At the same time I'll be machining my own belt wrap kits.
