Man the last few weeks I have been trying to fight off the itch of buying something new but all the technology on new cars is getting too much to ignore.

What kinda cars are you guys shopping to replace E55s?

I'm tentatively thinking a C63 coupe but want to hear your input

I've been contemplating the same thing?
For a long time I thought just a new e63, but lately I've been thinking about a z06?
Does your friend still have the blue Lambo?

Turbo E63, or all wheel drive tesla. Going to keep slumming it in the E55 for a few more years.

With the Canepa body kit, the CTS-V wagon really shines - I wish it came this way stock.

Until then, I'm looking at adding a 2014+ E63 wagon to the stable. Or wait until the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo comes out. Or I just break down and get a Ford Focus RS to whet my MT withdrawal and still have practical family use...

Got out of the fast car game, and wound up on a bike instead.

If I were getting out of the 55k game now, I'd shop 996TT, -V, AM V8 Vantage, and maybe a M3/M5. (All with a manual of course! Sucks that MB doesn't make a fast manual... Guess that means I need to drive a slow car fast!)

I don't think I can sell but I can add. I'm thinking track toy to compliment it. C7Z, GT3, M3/4, ACR, GT350-R... The american cars have a stigma but I think I can get over that if I get it cheap enough. My wife is likely getting an M4 so I don't think it would be worth buying a M3 for myself...So GT3 maybe. I don't know. There are so many good cars out right now.

Maybe a biturbo E63. But most likely a CTS-V.

i was planning long term ownership but starting to get annoyed with its faults like I do with every car I dump. How do you have your tablet mounted?

bikes and I... No. I can't do it, I don't trust myself with that type of performance and not solid cage around myself.

i want one but the door frame is so tight... I don't fit great getting in and out

I'm not sure if I want a daily or to replace with a fun toy. Something that's potentially nimble and has power. 996 or 997 are the optimal choices but can't daily, so thinking C63. Won't ever buy a bmw again so M3s are out, maybe I'll move to a more aggressive pulley and keep the 55?

my biggest annoyance currently is that my radio keeps rebooting and shutting down. i've already bypassed the SOS module and CD Changer, but still having issues. Will need to bypass the navigation unit next.

how i've mounted my tablet is simply using a magnetic mount installed to the CD slot. think i paid 5 dollars on ebay, and works like a charm.

Where were you 3 months ago when I was buying looking for white/panno? Your ride has "a look" (love it)...

Lots of great cars out there. You are spot on on all the new technology. All these cars are way different than the E55. E55 is "badass" type ride compared (like a 60's muscle car) to the new stuff with AWD, 11 speed transmissions (new ZL1), launch control, etc. Most of them are very uneventful to drive. I would lean toward AWD because when others are spinnin' you will be grinnin'...

Whatever you do good luck and I give it 100% odds you will regret selling the E55. Do whatever you can to keep it (as a 2nd, 3rd, 4th or whatever car). They are magical in many ways and a huge bang for the buck.

I'll just add to the garage. Pointless for me to sell the car. Ive put so many OEM upgrades and always been up on all maintenance and parts replacements, especially recently... Car drives awesome with the fresh 06 motor, still looks good too.

I'm really looking at Porsche 911 either a 991 S or 4S PDK or 997.2 Turbo PDK or maybe 997 Turbo tiptronic.

No manual for me. It gets old after a few runs then the extra work if and when you hit traffic? Ya, no thanks. PDK sounds great at upshifts anyway.

I'm toying with selling mine too. My daughter is about to start driving my commuter (95 E300D) so I've got to add another car or sell the 55 and take that spot in the garage.

But it's hard to think about not having a fast car...I LOVE the E55 and I know I'll regret selling it. Even my wife says I should just keep it and find another E300D or W124 400E to put the commuting miles on.

What's your price range / budget?

Do you plan to stay in the car game? If not, perhaps an SUV, 4x4, etc.

- '08+ Porsche Cayenne
- '07+ Porsche 911 / Carrera
- '12+ Tundra 4x4

Should I keep going?

i will be staying in the wagon game - probably keep in the AMG family and get a pre-owned 14+ wagon or a CTS-V wagon - hard part is buying 'Merican again - haven't bought an American car since my old Denali Yukon back in 02.

Yeah I'm not going far from a fastish car. I'm probably looking in the $45k range. If I can calm this feeling for another year or two, there's a local CLK63 Black that is the twin to my 55, I'd love to buy that and have a little AMG collection.
