Looking to Buy E55
Looking to Buy E55
I'm looking to add an E55 to my garage. I'm either going to buy it outright or lease it. I was wondering what kind of monthly payments you guys who are leasing are paying and what the details of your lease are. My dealer is jacking me around and wont give me straight numbers. Thanks.

I am sure that you have leased cars before, so me telling you that there are numberous varibles involved is not a revelation! Length of term, miles per yr., Selling price of the car, money out of pocket.....just a few of the questions that need to be answer prior to giving out numbers. But, if you have good credit and are looking at a modestly price car your payments for 48mos should be in the middle teens (ie. $1300 to $1500).
My lease (which can be terminated without charge at anywhere from 39-54 months) is $1100/month, taxes paid up front, 15000 miles/mo, zero down payment.
Mercedes Credit had offered about $1400/mo.
I said no thanks.

although i chose to buy my E55. Lease rates I have been given (and again this also depends on options - and thus purchase price) have been quite a bit better than 1300-1500.
Rates I've seens are based on 39 mo - which actually should be HIGHER than a 48 mo lease, and are closer to the low end of that range. In fact given as I understand it, MB can get to a 200ish money factor and a 57% resid., if you get at least a little off the sticker you could get into lease rates that start with a 12 rather than a 13.
My view however, was if I was going to lease, given the rather high money factors compared to current interest rate environment, you may be better, if you can, just negotiating a one pay (i.e. just PV their lease payments at the implied rate from the money factor and offer them that up front (this also helps apply a little leverage in getting the rate down.
Knowing no further details, AMG55's rate seems quite good (better than ive seen).

As Marcus Benz suggests there are many variables in pricing a lease payment. In addition to the things he mentioned I have found (by shipping cars to various states) that taxation of a lease varies by state as well. In PA you pay tax on any down payment as well as 9% monthly tax on each payment (yes, our sales tax is 6% but 9% on a lease) to make it more complex some cities / counties have an additional tax, i.e. in Philadelphia there is an additional 1%. Some states collect all of the tax upfront and some tax on the payment at differing percentage rates.
I just mention this to have you realize that payments will vary by state and that should be taken into account when comparing what other members are paying.
