I didn't think about it and my wife was the one who took the car in but when I looked at the paperwork when I got home I noticed the dealer used MB oil instead of Mobil 1.
000-989-83-01-USB9; 5w40 is what was used.
Is this the same as Mobil 1 or should I call them about it?
I do not believe this is Mobil 1 since the 5W-40 version of Mobil 1 is a 229.51 oil, not a 229.5 as listed.
This is a good thing, as you DO NOT want to use a 229.51 oil for gasoline engines, let alone AMG engines. 229.5 is the appropriate spec for the motor in your car, and this is genuine MB fluid after all, so I think you can rest assured that it's the right stuff!

229.5 has always been the recommended spec for gasoline engines. For a brief period, MB told dealers that they could use 229.51 in gasoline engines so that they only had to stock one type of oil that worked in both diesel and gas engines. Every dealer seemed to get this notice, but few of them seemed to have read the notice sent out at a later date saying to stop using 229.51 oil in gasoline powered cars because it was causing problems. Your dealership seems to be the exception since they put the right stuff in!
