Arrow Anyone Using OSRAM Xenarc Night Breaker Unlimited D2S Bulbs?

I'm thinking of replacing / upgrading my D2S headlight bulbs. Mainly to see if there are brighter options.

They're currently 6000k, I just don't know what brand they are. These came with the car and were installed by the previous owner years ago.

I'm looking around to see if there are some very good and extremely reputable brands out there that have 6000k available.

Some brands that I'm looking at are...

- Philips (85122WX ULTINON 6000K).
- Osram (Xenarc Night Breaker Unlimited - only available in 4300k)
- Oracle?

Any other suggestions?

I wouldn't mind spending a little more money on some really good bulbs.

I'm a bit iffy on trying the Osram bulbs mentioned above. I Googled a few pics, and although it says 4300k, the pictures on BMW's look like they're 6000k. I just don't want to find out that they're slightly yellow-ish once installed.

If you happen to have any pics available, feel free to show.

Thanks in advance.

In the same boat as you & kind of set on the Osram night breakers.

We really need to retro fit the projectors though to get optimum output. Oem really is low

My old headlamps prior to the accident last month had the ZKW upgraded lens. During the repair, the shop was only able to swap out the bulbs.

Because the lamps are brand spankin' new, I'm not sure I want to take them apart and potentially mess anything up (such as the active cornering).

Do you if the output actually looks like 6000k?
Looks good in pictures. Just trying to gauge from personal experience of others.

Also... which ones do we use?

it will be yellowish, for the nightbreaker. im using osram CBI with stock projector and its stlightly slight yellow and pure white.

however if you use the zkwr lens it might be different. im planning on getting those as well ... im soon doing a headlight facelift.

if you are into that cool blue color Philip 5000k is very nice... I had it in the c63.

if you want to save money ...morimoto bulbs are good for the money .. had it in my bimmer and it compares to osram or Philip.

Got it.
Thanks for the heads up.

Which ones did you order? I'm not sure what the differences are.

Will the output / color of the Osram CBI really change with just the lens upgrade?

The Philips bulbs I'm looking at is 6000k. My bro has the 5500k and it's "almost" crystal white.

I've seen the morimoto bulbs on my friend's car. I wouldn't mind spending extra on Osram or Philips.

ZKW for Hella. The CBI will be white no real blue when looking straight on. Lens just provides a sharper and clearer beam and cut off

And yes TRS has a massive back order of parts. Nearly a month for an order and I canceled. Got directly from Morimoto in 2 days on a drop ship.

I have the Osram CBI bulbs in my 55, with the factory Bi-Xenon projector, no additional mods. The output is definitely brighter, more white. The actual 'on ground' output doesn't have any hint of blue or yellow, just clear white. When viewing the lights from a distance, you still get the hid 'look' meaning the projectors still emit a blue/purpleish tone.

What many people fail to realize is that the color you get when looking at a proper HID system isn't produced by the bulb, as all factory HID bulbs are 4100k (yellow/white) but rather the optics of the HID projector/reflector.

Not entirely true. The kelvin rating of the bulb has a ton to do with the color. And the variations you get from a totally factory setup depend on a number of factors. Thickness of lens/focal length, type of bulb (many use Osram or Philip 85122), distance from bulb to lens and the shape of the bowl/cutoff mechanism. LED's in the housings can often influence the perceived color output as well.
