All 55k AMG's. What trap speed are you hitting @ 1/2 mile roll events?

Drag racing is cool once in awhile. But, it's too hard on the car and not really all that fun for me anymore. IMO Roll race events are where it's @ now.

I know our 5 speed cars are not very well suited for high speed events. But, I wanted to see if we can gather some useful data of the fastest 55Ks stock and modded @ 1/2 mile roll events. Shift sector etc..

Anyone run @ shift sector with a 55k? Please share with us your trap speed, standing or rolling 1/2 mile, elevation, temps etc

I'm interested too. I plan on doing the ShiftS3ctor event in Oregon this September.

For the standing 1/2 mile (WannaGoFast - Clayton,GA) I was 140mph with 83mm pulley + BWK + Tune. Cooling mods are Split Cooling and PLM heat exchanger. Street tires and Elevation ~2000ft

I now have ARH long tubes and revised ECU and TCU tune. She pulls harder up top, would be curious what the extra 40wrhp would net in MPH.

Wow that's impressive at high elevation. I think you got more then 40whp, right? LTH headers should give you like 40-50WHP alone. Revised ECU tune and TCU. Hmmm

40 whp and reduction in 2000 feet. better quality air. That's a lot. Probably close to 150mph - 155 mph maybe at sea level? or is that being too generous?

I thought there was a guy here with w211 E63 and he ran at shift sector or one of those roll events. I forgot what he ran I think it was a silver W211 E63.

No good before and after..so just threw out a conservative #. Dyno prior to the long tubes if I recall was ~435hp (DynoDynamics @ BIP 2+ years ago). With the recent ARH install it did 498hp though on a (DynoJet).

155mph @ 6500 feet is very fast. What do you think that would run at sea level event?

My buddy trapped 170mph in his M5 V8 Biturbo. Also ran 9.70 in the 1/4. He's winning every shift sector event M/AMG division.

My standing half mile time of 155mph at the DA I stated should be right at 160mph at sea level with good DA. I say that because I have a couple buddies that went 156-157mph at Heavens landing in their CTS V's, and cracked low 160mph traps at Ocala FL event.

**** that's fast craig. What do you think the ceiling is for bolt on 55k. Then with nitrous.

I thought our 5 speed would limit the 55K. Not bad guys.

Full bolt on e55 with stock blower at good altitude and weather is what centerline ran.

Depending on the nitrous size, would depend on increased trap speed.

Well My buddy has the worlds fastest M5 V8 Biturbo and has been winning like every BMW M / AMG class shift sector event in CA. He just ran 170mph on low boost.

He does have upgraded turbos and race gas not sure what else. But. it's fast as hell. I doubt any 55K can take him. I would think upgraded turbos E63 Biturbo. But, where are they @? 156 mph aint cutting it. Don't even think Weistec is putting up a fight. Not that Ive heard at least.

I support my buddy. But, daamn 156 mph V8 Biturbo AMG?? That better be stock turbos and pump gas. Is there any AMG that can run with him?

I ran 149.6 in Sept at WannaGoFast. Should of been faster but had a problem with trunk tank and methanol blowing fuses. Methanol never sprayed.

You have to be careful with SS events, they tend to let you race from a roll, race longer than 2640, and play with the timing system to read higher. Wannagofast is pretty accurate with there stuff, just bad locations. Vbox verification is a must

I agree, drag racing doesn't really do it for me either, 1/2 mile events are so much more fun. I don't have a 55, but might have some valuable info for you from last year's Shift S3ctor Oregon Airstrip Attack:

163' above sea level; records indicate temp was 82-86 that day, but I'm guessing it was more than that out on the runway. Also worth noting: forest fires in the area were running rampant at the time, and most of that part of Oregon, including the airfield, was covered in smog from the fires. Not sure if this affected oxygen content in the air, but thought I'd mention it.

My bone stock W211 E63 on pump ran 140 mph in the standing 1/2 mile. A local E55 with basic tune and pulley on pump was running somewhere around 144 mph at that same event.

Like LostMarine mentioned, SS doesn't mandate that you start from the beginning of the 1/2 mile stretch, so speed slips from these events aren't necessarily accurate. For example, on one occasion I started a ways back from the starting line and trapped 142 mph. If I had gone all the way back and put my tires on the very edge of the runway I think I could have come home with a slip that read over 145 mph. Most participants at the Oregon Airstrip Attack did start from the official starting line though.

Good to know. The way I see it, it's like a dyno. Some read higher some read lower. It's about how fast you run and how much time or distance between your and your competitors.
