E55 BBK Upgrade w/OE calipers
We had this thread up in the past discussing brake upgrade.
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...e-s63-s65.html
We later found out E55 is from 03-06 with 8 pot/4pot calipers, and after 2007 E55 was replaced by E63 with 6/4 pot calipers until now.
So this thread shall be focusing on discussing E55 (03-06) brake upgrade.
OE Front: 360x36mm one piece rotor w/8 pot caliper
OE Rear: 330x26mm one piece rotor w/4 pot caliperQuestion: What upgrade available?
Answer: The rotor can be oversized to 390 front and 360 rear like S models
Question: Can I re-use my OE calipers?
Answer: Yes for the front with an adaptor (designed and supplied by RB), but not the rear due to no room for adaptor.
Question: What can be done with the rear then?
Answer: The rear calipers are available from MB dealer (new unit supplied) and same as those come with 360x26mm rear such as 'S' C63 Black Series or newer 2010+ E63 models.
Question: Do I get two piece rotors and pads
Answer: Yes RB two piece rotors, performance street pads and front adaptors (incl. longer bolts) are included in the package along with new rear calipers (for 360mm rotor), for a plug and play installation.
Question: Do you have a typical picture showing the contents
Answer: Yes it's the same kit as we offer for C63 owner (360/330mm) upgrading to C63 Black Series (390/360mm).
Question: Is it going to be expensive I mean cost wise.
Answer: Very affordable cost even less than a dealer's brake job which only replacing the brake pads and re-surfacing the rotors.

Question: How long do I have to wait if I order now
Answer: About 4-6 weeks provided we can have at least 3 pre-orders.
Question: If I pre-order now do I get a discount.
Answer: Yes you will - PM us for detail.

I think I am confused because of the pictures, in that they are for the C, not the E.
Front calipers are Radial mount on the W211 for the E55. So if you are suggesting we can do the two piece rotors for the front (excluding the rear) then that means probably longer bolts and a spacer for the caliper to move out, say, 30mm or less. Is that correct?
The adaptors shown address radial mount calipers adapted to an axial mount.

A better picture is re-inserted.
Although it's for C63 but the idea and scope is the same as for E55. We will design a pair of new adaptor (for 390mm rotor) to replace your OE steel adaptor (360mm) including longer bolts.
Here is the picture of OE (C63) steel adaptor vs. RB's taller aluminum adaptor:
Hope this helps to clarify your questions.

Very nice brake upgrade.
Are the rotors also available drilled (besides the slots)? Or even both..slotted and drilled?
Also what is the approx. weight saving per corner with these two piece rotors compared to the OEM solid one piece cast rotors?
Last question, what is the procedure like to bleed the air out of the lines and calipers?
Thanks.

For most discs only offer "Open Slots' finish it's the most popular finish in motorsports application not only it retains most braking surface area but will not easily crack like conventional drilled holes:
You can learn more about the pro/con of various finishes here:
http://www.racingbrake.com/v/main/two_piece_compare.asp
Weight saving comparison:
Even with oversize rotors you still can save 8 lbs per rotor over stock size one piece rotor.
Bleeding procedures:

I understand now. The front brakes are held on with an oem axial to radial adaptor for the calipers. You change the spacing of the mount radially to house the larger rotors.

Exactly correct.
This space (caliper) out brake upgrade is very practical and affordable which has been highly popular in Infiniti, VW, NSX, Subaru, and Porsche etc. which RacingBrake is highly experienced on this type of development.
We started introducing this upgrade to Mercedes owners from C63 (upg to BS brakes), and are expanding our offer to other models so you can benefit the same for a low cost BBK while maintaining stock set up for caliper and pads etc.
