C63 Mufflers - TOO LOUD. Anyone...
There is a thread on the C63 form of guys doing this after installing headers...
I installed the c63 mufflers and resonator last week. Sounds awesome at low RPM but at WOT a bit much (understatement) for my liking...
I will post video's but no difference in what others have posted (do a search on "E55 with c63 muffler fly by")...
Thanks
TK
I now have ARH LT's (with HiFlow Cats) with X-Pipe to stock resonator to C63's. The sound is much better so a lot may be having the X-Pipe closer to the headers than where my h-pipe was.
Viewing Enjoyment (turn your volume way up as that is how it sounds in real life - it sounds a bit better if you wear headphones or connect it to a bluetooth speaker)

*****I got this clip from my brother in law (I don't know where he got it and didn't ask). The the rumor is it was a pull from 40-99 (kilometers of course). Rumored E55 mods were 168 crank pulley, headers, tune, and upgraded H/E with engine bay tank****

Anyway, people "gut" their E55 mufflers. I wonder if it is possible to (maybe not be the best choice of words) "pack" or "insulate" the c63 muffler housing with whatever material comes in it?
A guy on the C63 forum suggested that PERHAPS bigger exhaust tubes might help?

Were the windows of the car open? Either way "super loud" is an understatement...

Here's a link to a DIY I saw on doing all this. It doesn't seem too hard as long as you have a welder to weld everything back up. I hope it helps.

Needless to say I have changed my tune.
Everyone who hears the car loves the sound. 75 degrees today. All the windows open. No need for music...
Loud? A bit but "nasty"...
daily driving its either perfect or a touch too loud depending on my mood for the day. full throttle is perfect, it barks and screams to the heavens.
some days i wish the daily driving rumble was a touch louder...but generally its just right. can be crazy loud if you dip into the throttle quickly though.
in hind sight...i'd say its a good idea to keep the factory exhaust system if going long tubes, but throw in a electronic cut out. would i have done it differently knowing this? dunno...
This is an example of the ultra quiet:
Existing Exhaust Set-up:
ARH LT's --> 200 Cell Cats --> X-Pipe --> Stock Resonator --> C63 Mufflers
2nd Gear Pull (road was a bit bumpy for traction)
Moderate Launch for another take

It is always difficult to get the full "picture" but based on what I am hearing the sound is still aggressive but the "choppiness" of the c63 mufflers has subsided?
Again, thank you for the post!
