Brand new 2004 E55 here!
Hey guys!
Been looking at the E55 for a while and finally found one. A couple here in the North Dallas area and I settled on a 2004 E55, Silver, with 107k miles.
$12k out the door.
Car is clean, one owner, and looks to be in great condition. All work done at the local dealer here, Park Place, but they will not give me the VMI or any service history. Seems like par for the course.
Bought this after selling my pick up truck. Moved from Las Vegas to Dallas and found that pick ups here are worth way more than I ever thought, I made money for driving it for 4 years!
I performed all the work (6.0 Powerstroke, if you know the motor you know how much work) and look forward to taking on this challenge as well.
I do know to use search and look forward to learning and contributing to this forum.
Thanks,
Sean

Thanks! I thought it was good. I looked at a 05 with 65k miles but at $16,500 it was at the top of my range.
With this one I have some money left over for some mods. Nothing like some of you but at least split cooling and maybe a HE if I can figure out which one.

160psi and up buuuuut....
certain test gauges read high and some read low. So that's why you will have guys with 180psi and others with 160psi and it's not nessecarly because they are off by that much but because of diff testers
Don't use wallyworld or harbor freight testers. Use a good quality tester and more importantly check the difference between each cylinder.

Congrats, Sean. You'll find it pretty simple to work on. I'd recommend investing in a Star diagnostic system, when you can swing it.

Thank you! I have been looking at STAR systems from China. Real ones seem to be very expensive. Do you have a specific one?
I have been looking at this one:

All of this matters. I have thrown away a LOT of money buying items (in the process of replacing them, too) so speak first hand on the topic. This is my 2nd E55 (I bought a new one in 2006 and got back in the game "thinking" I knew my stuff). No so much...
Again, welcome. Great car and buy.

Welcome. I am not the "expert" on this forum but you are spot on. Do your research and lay out options and get feedback. One question I have for you is "what are your goals"? Is this a 3rd car? Is this a 1/4 mile car? Are you looking to have a sub 9-second 60-130 car?

Thanks for the heads up. This is a weekend car for now. Not looking to do anything more than cooling mods. I don't need to be the fastest and I am not looking to race in any way shape or form.
My previous experience was running in the Silver State Open Road Classic and races like that so if I were to do anything it would be based around that type of competition.
I really like the Q ship nature of the E55 and I like that it is very reliable. I want to keep it for another 100k miles so it will not get any boost improvements.
