helpppp plzzz stereo!.
ok i just have one question where in the world is the stock oem amp for the w211 e55 amg i check trunk i checked under the plastic cover on trunk where is it? also do our e55 amg use the fiber optic speaker wiring or none?.
the actual amp is merged with whats called the audio gateway. and its hidden in the trunk on the drivers side under the paneling against the wall on the drivers side rear quarter panel. its really hard to see but when you remove the carpet panels from the rear, you will see all the wiring going into the rear sam module (where the fuses and such is right there) but further back behind it and about 6 inches towards the front of vehicle from there you will see many many wires going into a square "amp" or better known as audio gateway module. there are 2 screws that holds it suspended on that side panel. 2) the wiring to speakers are your "normal" 18-20 gauge wires, no fiber optic wiring that connects the speakers but the major components have fiber optic hooked up to them and this is whats called the "loop" ie- the cd changer, head unit, nav unit, voice/telematics, sirius if available ..... the fiber optics only connects the major components and right on into the audio gateway module. hope this helped??

Ok so oem stereo is coming off it sucks and the autopilot is trash.
Im running:
-Oem front tweeters
-Ds18 2 way speakers on all 4 doors about 65rms to each one
-4 channel hertz amp class a/b supplying 65rms @ 4ohm x4
-mono block hifonics @1ohm 1200rms
-12" sub image dynamics @1 ohm 1200 rms
-clarion deck vx405
-sealed ground shaker box 1.6cu.ft at optimal size for the sub.
-tapped into the oem harness running rca to rear only everything else intact.
Nothing over kill ok sound system not to heavy kinda light.
Good for you. The stock system blows, but I can't commit the $$ to a ten year old car to upgrade it. For now I'm playing digital files from a premium player through the AUX jack, and running the stock HU on "Standard" sound instead of "Logic 7 Surround." I was surprised to discover it actually sounds better on Standard.

Ill take a picture when i get off work , and btw it sounds amazing better than that oem crap we had , the only downside is u gotta unplug center speaker and both left and right front speakers under the dash by your legs bc those are 8ohm and will fry ur amp.

Thanks.
I don't really wanna unplug center speaker but if the sound range is better with aftermarket amp then why not.

no. the center speaker is 1.5ohm for example
Yea center speaker is 1.5ohm bottom speakers by leg room is 8ohm and even the sub is 8 or 16 think and doors are 4ohm, but does not matter just ditch them all they suck i just run 4 and 2 tweets total and its dam loud
I actually think the harmen karden sounded pretty decent for a stock system. I just changed the terrible oem nav out. Brought out much better base and overall cleaner sound with stock speakers and amp.
