Redline vs LiquiMoly
So i finally bought my E55. I always swap all of the fluids when I purchase a car.
I've been running Redline Recline in all of my vehicles for as long as I remember, but lately I keep hearing recommendations to run Liqui Moly.
Anyone have experience with both? From the VOAs I've seen, RL has the better additives package.

I'm a redline guy. It's a group five ester based oil, very stable and had low noack with a great HTHS 4.4 high temp high shear numbers on the 5-40 oil. Also high 176 vescosity index. Stay away from Mobil 1. It's Death in your motor! The redline is light years better than the liqui moly. I've been a tech for over 25 years on German cars and a big oil nerd. Hope that helps.

Hey buddy! Yea, I had an 89 turbo and sold it a few months ago but we're building a 3.2 dry sump car for my brother at the moment.
Back to your question, I run 5-40 in the E55. One main reason hing for me is, it's a group V oil vs mobile 1 is group III base stock. I've had great experiance with it.

I was using the moly as well.. then I cam across Bizol at eeuroparts and I have to say the difference is startling... bizol is touted as created only for German cars... I put this in 2 weeks ago... the smoothness and the now very quiet oil pump whine are now much much better... I wil not be using anyting else moving forward..

All the high ingredients that take the oil to the next level are reduced in numbers. I know we all have AMG's and absolutely love these cars but, back in the 80'-90's when manufactures built cars, specially the Germans it was meant to last forever. Now the government and the clean air environment freaks don't want these cars on the road forever due to tighter restrictions every year or down the road.
So, they take all the good stuff out of the oil and eventually over the years you get, flat cams and worn out engine parts and so on. They basically force you into getting a newer car, they want the older stuff off the road!! I've been a tech since 91 and seen this over the years and lately I'm seeing cars that are only a few years old with strange wear on engine parts... Worn out teeth, cams, lifters worn through etc. Not trying to knock Mobil but, seen a few engines that clients were die hard fans with not so good results in the long run. Not trying to **** anyone off here, just sharing my experiance. There's also a huge difference between a group three oil vs a group five ester base oil.

All depends on the engine I think. My 1998 Crown Vic has 220,000 miles on her and just regular old oil was used for every 3,000 oil change.Still sounds like day one off the assembly line even with sub zero winter cold starts all its life.

In the FWIW department, here is as unbiased an article I could find after a quick search which was not written by an oil company. As always for myself, the brand is not particularly important as long as the oil meets the specs.
