Swapped climate control and perhaps a problem
Didn't appreciate the car may need to be coded for the swap but I Swapped an identical unit from another car in a bit better condition. Coincidentally my AC off button is lit up now and I can't access the hidden ac menu ( have not tried before)
Does anyone know if coding is necessary?

Identical unit does not mean the same part number(capabilities)---to answer your question, post the old AC control part number and the part number for the AC control unit installed.

The correct AC control module part for your VIN is 211 830 06 90 and the newer 42 85-----those are direct replacements---no coding bla bla
Remember your VIN has SA code 954(Avantgarde) not 955(Elegance)
If you had the 955 then the correct part is 211 830 15 85 and the newer 19 85
Where the other part numbers came from---WGAF--but if you found someone who knew what he was doing he could try to code the AC control modules you have to behave like a 211 830 06 90!

The 2118300690 doesn't look like my climate control at all. I had a digital one that looks exactly like the replacement one. Are you saying my car came with the non digital one and the one I replaced was not original? Sorry for the question just trying to completely understand.

Go to a dealer and duplicate the process.Ask to look at the older or current part number that they define based on the VIN you provide them
