Brought my brake parts home, 4 rotors, pads etc. placed them as far forward in the trunk/boot as I could but they still caused the floor of the trunk to collapse down past the rear ledge it's perched on. Is this normal?

It was an easy fix, nothing broken, but it's pretty flimsy.

Yes it is normal. Those rotors weigh over 100 lbs..

Clearly I'm going to have to be careful about tossing hookers in the trunk.

You are probably missing the two clips that allow the trunk mat to tilt/hinge and also stop it from sliding forward.
When it slides forward it has no support at the rear.
