Cut and pasted article:
The W211 Mercedes E55 AMG may be fourteen years old at this point but it still continues to impress. When Mercedes-AMG threw a 5.5 liter V8 (M113K) into an E-Class chassis and supercharged it, they sent a message. Look at how capable the M133K motor still is today.
Setup:
2005 E55
Stock Motor
Stock Heads
Stock Cams
Stock Trans (at the moment)
Fuel System:
2x Walbro 450cc in the factory baskets
Custom Fuel Lid for Passenger's side
-10AN from tank, through external FPR and Filter
Split factory rail with -6 inlet on each
Mods - FBO
American Racing Longtubes
90mm TB
178mm Crank
77mm S/C Pulley
650cc Injectors
Eurocharged ATX Flex Fuel
We are talking bolt on modifications with an upgraded fuel system for ethanol. Nothing crazy there yet the engine design which is well over a decade old is showing 643 horsepower to the tires.
They plan on doing some further tuning with higher ethanol contents but suffice it to say the W211 E55 is an all time great.

a 178/77 pulley combo is going to be running a crapload of boost. I'm not sure the statement 'nothing crazy here' would apply to this pulley combo. also, the link appears to be broken. I can't get it to load.

With all that boost your generating, you had a upgrade the cooling system to cool that intake charge down?

It's actually making 662whp/708wtq currently. Still on stock bottom end, heads, cams, and supercharger

Take it to the 1/4 and then you can claim something. Craig Hawkins made over 700wtq on E85 and he only ran a 10.8X.

I think this is the link he meant to paste https://tinyurl.com/mbc4257 or

They're both the same link.

Big numbers are good! What is important is since we do all testing and tuning on the same dyno, inside our climate controlled shop, we can see how the changes we make affect power. We're putting together a track rental so we can see what it's really made of
It's not only for the dyno, DON'T WORRY - we'll keep you all posted!
Thanks
Dave

Don't worry about M3diesel AKA Bruce Bejsovic / TTM. Haters gonna hate and he sure is hating. Originally Posted by DavesMeanE's

Didn't have boost logging with the dyno, but I will tell you that it runs about 14lbs. We log it separately Originally Posted by oneslow55

Stock Engine, Stock Heads/Cams, Stock Supercharger. 70% Ethanol (E85 from the pump). Tuned by Jerry @ Eurocharged.
Any lean hiccup or drivability issues?

None of those issues. FWIW I have never had any of those issues on any 82mm or 90mm I have installed. I have done quite a few. Originally Posted by StarvingArtist

Car has very good driving manners, around town or on the highway

Thanks

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being completely stock feeling, how does this car rate for DD streetability?Originally Posted by DavesMeanE's

I am curious how bonkers you can go on the W211 while still keeping it as a (partial) DD.

Little tough to say... but since my loaner car is a stock 2005 E55, I have some decent insight Originally Posted by tumbler510

Obviously it goes without saying that there are certain things that are different. It's a lot louder...the solid engine mounts transmit a little more "feel" into the cabin (still not bad at all). Trans shifts harder, fuel pumps are louder.
Other than those things, its still an Airmatic car, all stock suspension. Still a 722.6, and still has a clutch on the S/C pulley. so really, if you want to putter it around, you can... It just has loads more power when you want it.
SO if we go by pure driving characteristics, I'll give it a 8. If we go by everything, a 6. Average to get a 7. Overall, I'd say it drives pretty much the same as a car with : Tune/83/LTH. Something like that.
Thanks
Dave

When you say 450cc fuel pumps do you mean the walbro 450 lph pumps?
Is there a flex fuel sensor incorporated into the system or just using 50% ethanol as a baseline

1. Ya I think that article inaccurately stated 450cc, when its supposed to be 450lph.Originally Posted by E42AMG???

2. Yes, the flex system we sell uses an ethanol sensor.

Thanks
