The Xtrons Android offering, the newer version of what BoostedAero posted up about.

Living in Oakland and all, stereo that fit the dash perfectly and look OEM are an obvious winner for not wanting to replace glass down the road.

That and while it's not cheap, it's a whole lotta bang for the buck.

Search "fixed broken trunk" should be about sixth hit down. The wires fatigue where they bend each time the trunk is opened, some go to lights too, check them all. Where they enter the hinge sort of inside or at the end of the grayish conduit.

That's the one I've been eyeballing.

I've had stereo equipment stolen while in Oakland. Only took me once to learn my lesson and take subs & deck out of the truck when going to my buddy's place there. That was around 12 years ago and I still find a small piece of glass in it sometimes.

The steering wheel project is officially underway. My machinist James is on it (Ep1p2).

I'll make a little stupid video when I'm done with the install if you want to just hang and see what it's like. Or you can even come by and play with it eventually since you're not far.

I'd definitely like to check it out once you have it in if it's not too much trouble. I've never seen an Android HU in person and am a bit cell phone stupid. I'm still a couple of months out from buying one, got house stuff to take care of first.

Xtrons is a great choice!

You are going to want to flash a custom rom to speed it up a bit

I want steering wheel crack video bad... do update us on progress.

Use factory shifters from your wheel to avoid getting stuck in first. I am pretty sure when circuit is left open it just keeps downshifting

Yup, we're keeping the shifters.

These new ones are promised to be quite a bit quicker, but you're right. Knowing me, I will probably end up ****ing with that too.
MTCB/MTCD refers to serial number? Model number? I'll skim through linked threads.

EDIT: Found my answer here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-mtcd-t3371252. Looks like I will need MTCD.

Got the 010 pump sitting on my desk. This just in! Wilwoods here:

The 'GS' compact marketing while not entire false isn't quite where I need it to be.
Some of the flange sides at the mounting surface will have to be machined down, giving us about 4mm from each side, for a total of ~1.5cm width reduction, since these will go right next to each other.
This is going to James along with the handbrake assembly ASA he is done with the hub adapter.

Headunit already here, gotta love DHL, it was in Hong Kong two or three days ago. Amplifier arriving tomorrow.

Meanwhile, it looks like James won't be able to work on the hub adapter until mid next week and machining aluminum is currently the project bottleneck. So I did what what I had to: I signed up for Techshop. Time to learn how to run the Tormach CNC.

Played around in VCarve Pro with an imaginary 4" x 8" x 3/8" aluminum stock.
The doubling up of the hydraulic handbrake assembly for dual MCs should be straightforward.

Cooling mods start arriving! A little disappointed in FCP Euro that there are no gummy bears inside, but I guess the lifetime guarantee is pretty good.

Ground off the flange sides on the MCs, now this is 'compact'. Routed the dual RCA to the trunk.

Reasons to use Wilwood MCs:
- Made in the USA
- Design measurements available right on the product page http://www.wilwood.com/MasterCylinde...emno=260-15091
- Rebuild kit easily available

However, I'm surprised the part number is not stamped/printed anywhere on the unit. Given there are 5 ID sizes available, how would someone else know which rebuild kit to order? I might use a scribe and add that on.

As of today I'm allowed to use the CNC mill but taking another class on Wednesday to learn how to use the 4th axis attachment, which I won't be needing for this project. The machine the TechShops here use is the Tormach 1100, capable of making a whole lot of automotive stuffs. Anyways, aluminum plates in three thicknesses are in the mail, as are the new 5/16-24 thread helm joints.

I took apart the eBay handbrake assembly and started measuring and drawing things:

Here is a fun thought for y'all. This hydraulic rear handbrake project doubles as a failover device in case SBC should take a dump on me.

Voila.

Really good for a first attempt, but needs revising. The holes didn't have the drill-through parameter enabled, the MC diamter is so precise (35mm) that it won't fit with the rubber protective boot (35.85mm).

Going to order a fancy endmill bit, design the second plate and attempt another round this week.

Interesting build... What do you plan to do with SBC and traction control?

I slid mine back in the day - super easy to control. (Well, easy to control right up until it went into limp mode and needed a tow home).
