- Do we know what the hoods are made of on these cars?
- What's the best bang-for-buck route to more torque that's CARB compliant-ish?
It sounds like folks have moderate difficulty with long tube header fitment as well as some driveability concerns with larger throttle bodies. My requirement for this project is pure and uncompromising street build and near-OE reliability.
With that in mind, I'm going to proceed to address the maintenance items on the motor like the CPS, filters, fluids, spark plugs. As I do this, I will also redo supercharger plumbing.
Beyond that, a crank/SC pulley/tune project sounds like the appropriate first step.
Also, I would get a set of long tube headers if you can run them in Cali. I got the ARH with the catted X-pipe for mine. They are expensive, and I did have some fitment issues that were resolved. Ever since then they have been 100% trouble free and an awesome mod.
Get a 77mm clutched pulley and a tune and call it good.
A larger TB will help, but when I added mine the car developed a "hiccup" that I haven't sorted out yet. Not sure if it's the TB or something else, but it drives me crazy.

When it comes to cooling, the Killer Chiller setup complexity is a big turn off. But I have no doubts its a wonderfully well performing setup. Version one is still set to be a new heat exchanger with separate plumbing and the upgraded pump. However, that's not to say that down the road the car will not end up with a Killer Chiller. Only time will tell.
Currently, power is not what's holding the project back.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
How did your IAT's do during the drift event? I've autocrossed mine a couple times and the SC was shutting off by the end of the run. It doesn't like a lot of boost at low speeds; the H/X never gets enough air flowing over it. I'd be surprised if you still had an active SC at the end of a drift run.

EDIT: Just saw your signature - yikes! Sounds like something I need to do ASAP. The bolt links all expired but the page titles remain so I know what I need.
EDIT2: Would running a cooler thermostat on these cars be a good idea? It's a popular thing with older BMWs.

did you put in the zzp heat exchanger ? curious if it helped and if it fit easily under the stock 55 bumper ?
there is a 180 degree stat available -- not sure how much that helps , also you can code your fan with STAR to come on 10 degrees earlier - look for "-10 mod"
and yes do your rear subframe

I would go headers, throttle body and tune.

And then every thing you can to cool that intercooler down.

The part about engine bay temperature recovery is helpful, thank you. What brand are you using?

closest i ever got to that was in my brand new 84 GT mustang when i used to put her sideways coming out of onramps.... at about 70.... Ok I was young
passenger's where usually not thrilled LOL

Frankly I'm a road racer so drifting is not the fastest way around but it is certainly fun

I saw you one handing the wheel at some point, so I can tell your not fighting it, you have the feel and your finessing it...
Not everybody gets that

oh and another fun car... the 1990 Audi V8 quattro, not the most powerful, but it was fun to throw that into a offramp and slide it thru.... was following a guy in 90's mustang GT thru a 2 lane ramp, he was trying to pull away but you could see the rear stepping out.... scared the crap out of him when i powerslid around him in the outside lane... another young thing...

luckily im too old to do that stuff anymore

Mike
