2006 E55 AMG
Coilover brand Advice/Recommendation
Hey All,
So my 2006 E55 just surpassed the 60k mark and went in for service and everything looks great. One thing I know is coming though is an issue with the airmatic. From what I have read problems are inevitable and come without warning. I have pretty much made the decision to preemptively try and do the conversion to coilovers to avoid issues with the car not being able to be driven.
What I am looking for from all you good people is any info/advice/recommendations on this conversion and also brands of the kit used.
I have seen kits from BC, KW, Megan and FTP etc. Prices seem to be from around 800 to over 2 grand. I am usually a big proponent of the "you get what you pay for" mantra but also don't know enough about this to know if it applies here.
I would love any info anyone could provide. I have no problem spending the money if it is warranted but just want to be sure I am getting the most bang for my buck.
Thanks in advance!

KW$$$$>D2$$$>BC$$>Megan$$(.95)
All will require rear control arms from an e350
KW is king and is what Benz chose as their supplier for their Black Series line:

***Edit***Changed to multiplicative factor of .95 bc hulk said megans rock =D

MBWorld Fanatic!
I have BC for 1 month now... drove to Arizona and few trip total 1000 miles and so far so good. No noise and ride like my Airmatic suspension. I have it for 15 clicks so kinda soft setting. Next month I will adjust to 17 in front. Total cost $1K + $450 rear control arm + $300 installation + $100 alignment = $1850

And coming out to your car and never ever having to worry about a failed bag = $$$Priceless$$$

I also had a set on a 240sx for awhile, they were stiffer than heck on that car but they didn't make noise and treated me well for the time I had them.
