2005 E55 AMG, 1991 MR2

I am interested to know why the PLM is the only heat exchanger with oil cooler mounting brackets. A very important feature in my opinion. Just installed mine a couple of weeks ago (thanks Shardul).

Not all cars have the cooler.

You are correct, the 2003 don't. So ignore the other 3/4 of model years.

Yes correct, and some late 2003 owners have reported having it also. It's definitely not exact.
