Two new OEM crank pulleys wobble..
Hey guys, I have a 2006 55k and the dealer installed a brand new OEM crank pulley and it has a wobble at idle.. they ordered another new one and a second one time use bolt and this one wobbles the same.. the crank surface looks brand new (shiny) and the keyway and key is there and not chipped or anything and he is torquing it down with a very nice Snapon torque wrench to the 200nm and the wrench even does the 90deg stretching too.. although I'm wondering if the key could be lower than it should or something... anyway I and the dealer are at a complete loss.. they are calling in the factory now.. does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? I know the crank pulley is supposed to go on about half way and then the rest is walked on by the bolt.. the tech didn't seem to think that's what was happening he thought it went all the way on by hand but of course he really couldn't know.. but if that's the case the only think I could see that could make it fit tighter is a new key as the crank is forged and not damaged so it's not like it got smaller.. as far as I know I guess.. we are lost here, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks guys.

It wouldn't surprise me too much if that's how they are. I haven't seen a used one that didn't wobble a bit, but I've only seen two.
Maybe try one of the aftermarket companies like wistec.

I wanna sidetrack and ask... how do you check for a wobble really?
Or the integrity of the pulley overall? Do you guys change it preventatively or do you wait for a tell tale sign
I have a 180mm ASP (it appears by design comparison and googling around, not installed by me). I want to drive my car to Miami soon and don't want it exploding.

Mine wobbles a tiny bit too, I've noticed in the failure warning posts that the pulley will start to walk off the snout. I check mine from time to time and it's not moving so I am assuming it's okay.

Hey guys when you all say it wobbles a tiny bit can you estimate how much? Is it something you have to sit there and stare at to see it or it's noticeable rather quickly? Could you estimate it in inches? Thanks guys

Thanks man! I just went and picked it up and oh my God.. I feel so bad.. if you look at it dead on it looks like a little wobble if you look at it from the side it's almost perfect and if you take a video of it straight on it looks fine too.. I think this is an optical illusion from the engine moving a little.. even the guy at the dealer was blown away.. they said we can't believe we didn't think to look at it from the side!

I was staring at my engine yesterday and it looks like mine is wobbling too... on video with my phone it looks pretty smooth, but in real life not so great. I'll have a mechanic check it but my other indy didn't say anything about it in particular.

It's an optical illusion.. mine did the same.. look at it from the side and you will see it's straight.. along with the video.. looking at it straight I think we are seeing the engine move or it's caused by a slight missfire

I'm not sure what it is, maybe just normal engine movement but looking at it from the side and filming it shows it to be fine so we are seeing something weird when looking at it from the front..

No I don't but my mounts are brand new (3 months old) but I did have a bit when they were starting to get low. I replaced them before they were completely bad though.
