Trunk Not Sealing Tigt (Doesn't suck down like it used to) Help?

Hey guys,

My trunk automatic closer used to close it all the way, then I would hear something suck it down fully sealed. Now it doesn't do that any more. It still closes and latches but there is a gap and I can't figure it out.

It looks like the latch on the bottom portion of the trunk has a gear that I'm guessing is supposed to suck the hook down once the trunk is latched.

I checked F88 trunk closer module fuse which is fine.

Then I also checked a bunch of other fuses just for kicks, the 5 or 6 by the spare wheel, the fuses by the nav disc unit in the trunk, and the fuses under the hood.

Any one else experienced this before? Maybe that little motor/gear went bad?

Thanks guys.

That happened to me a couple of months ago - the motor went bad. Indy replaced it and it is working again.

Oh okay I'll just look up a part for a new motor then and hope it's the same thing for me, thanks.

Holy crap haha, $300 for that stupid little motor or $80 bucks for one used off ebay with more miles than mine. Hmmmmm.

I might just see if I can adjust the striker a little lower and see if I can get it to seal a bit more without that little gear pulling it down.

I haven't looked at the 211 one but a similar system on an old Lincoln I had, I was able to turn the drive manually where the trunk pull down motor was and get it to the closed position. Required a bit more effort to close the trunk normally but it was in the normal down position and didn't require a very expensive part.
