Help me out guys, is this a good deal?

Looking to get my first AMG. Found a 2003 with 81,500 miles for $13,900 OBO. Two owner, second owner has had it since 27023 mi. Front and rear brakes done at 75,000 mi. Dynamic seats. Carfax/Autocheck is clean. Interior looks great in the pics.

I've sent an email asking the status of the airmatic, motor mounts, sc pulley, trans fluid, radiator replaced? etc., and if it all checks out, what would be a good offer without low-balling the guy?

Depending on maintenance records that can be proven, that price is pretty solid. My cousin just paid about the same for his with same mileage fwiw

You prolly need someone to scan it with Star and or get a PPI at a MB Dealer. You can get a VMI report with all work done up to that point.

Just search for user BBirdwell and he has some stellar advice for new owners.

80k miles = 20k over due for fuel pumps

Just make sure they were done as well/ recall was taken care of (correctly

Some more info I got on the car:

Radiator has been replaced recently, trans fluid changed recently, front airmatic replaced long time ago, motor and trans mounts replaced recently. The fuel pump has not been replaced, sc pulley never replaced, ic pump never replaced.

Would offering $12000 be low-balling?

With no evidence of fuel system maintenance ($1k-$1500) I feel like that is a pretty fair starting place. You will need to do the work as soon as you purchase the vehicle to prevent a lean condition, that honestly could already exist. You may want to also borrow a fuel pressure testing kit and test it at idle. It should be about 78-82PSI at idle. If it is not I would walk away because the motor could be toast IMHO

Thank you, I didn't know the fuel pump issue was so serious. I'd have to fly out to see the car.

if you can talk him down to 13 or 12.5 it would be nice.
I got a deal on mine, mine 2004 with 42k miles one owner, but it docent have any of those fancy option except push button start.
