Fuel system

My e55 with stock pumps was running around 11.5 fuel had that recall done and my fuel went up to 13.6 at 6000 .... has anyone have this problem after the recall replacement pumps.... I've just heard today that it's not really the pumps that are the problem but the buckets that they sit in and if I drill holes in the buckets it will help because what is happening is the car is emptying them to fast... has anyone heard this and if so... is it true or do I just need to order aftermarket fuel pumps

The dealer may have replaced the tank and pumps but could possibly not installed the adapter cable to the fuel pumps. The new pumps have a different power/ground pin out compared to the old pumps. Search for threads started by me and you'll find more info.

With adapter cable, both pumps should be drawing approximately 13 amps each; if one pump draws 13 amps and the other 3 amps, the dealer failed to install the adapter cable. Amperage should be 12-13 amps each.

You should have the following adapter cable installed. At least one member had his fuel tank replaced but the dealer failed to install the adapter cable causing his engine to run lean at high rpms.

Easy to check; remove rear seat, look to see if there is an adapter cable like the one in the photo installed between the OEM harness and the fuel pump connector.

Wow ok will check but have you heard anything about the drilling hole in the bucket for better fuel flow... It sounds crazy but it might work

Others with modified cars seem to do quite well with the stock pumps and baskets.
