Brake Service brake visit workshop

Hi guys,
Got this msg this morning. I guess the only thing could be is SBC malfunction or brake light switch.
Which msg you get for SBC malfunction ? and which msg you get for brake light switch ?

Thanks !

As long as it is not the pump unit, its still going to show a white message like that. If it were a brake lamp switch you might actually get an ESP warning message but I'm not certain on that because those switches didnt fail too often.

Take a look at your brake pad thickness.

That'd be my guess.

On my W210 E55 when the brake light switch went bad I also lost ESP. I highly doubt that's the issue.

Yes not too bad especially if that is a dealer price. I seem to remember the unit is about $900 on pelican parts or fcpeuro. If it includes brake fluid flush even better. It can be done yourself without STAR but I would rather pay someone to do it with STAR using the proper procedure.

It's independent mechanic who used to work in Brabus NewPort... He did brake fluid flush so I guess it was OK. I don't mind pay a bit more to make sure my car is in good hand.
Didn't expect SBC fail so fast. Someone once told me that the electronic components only support up to 600,000 times of braking and then will lock it. Hope this will last other 10 years.

I have heard 600,000 also 300,000 and a couple of other numbers. Should be good for a very long time. My understanding is that it is simply a safety thing, replacement before anything can fail from wear even though it might have been fine for several more years.

I did not contact the dealer since my car is 2006 and it's 2017 December so my guess is out of warranty.
If your car is 2004 then forget the warranty.

Mercedes Benz USA extended the SBC warranty for 25 years FROM the year of your car, it would have been warrantied brother. I have a 2004 E55 and I received my letter in the mail.

You may be able to be compensated for the SBC repair that you've had to put out money for.

Good stuff brother👍 We are fortunate with MercUSA, Europe Mercedes does not Warranty the SBC period.
