i did mine by myself with stands and prior to buying my E55 id never done anything other than oil changes. took me about 3 hours total. a lot of up and down getting factory log manifolds off. the mbh have room between the pipes to get to mounting bolts on the bottom side from top. i removed air intake, plug wires and coil packs to give me a much room as possible. drivers side is the harder but still wasn't that bad. i ordered the copper nuts from autohauz I believe. good luck ill answer any questions if ya have any. i love mine.

I have ALOT of experience working on cars been a tech for many years so very familiar with cars so not afraid of that. Just was more curious as to peoples experience with em haha. I have the new gaskets an copper nuts ready for the install. I have not touched the exhaust so since this is my daily driver just wanted to make sure it was doable in a day or so. I was told the midpipe comes off pretty easy an MBHs midpipe bolts right in with no probs. Thats what im hoping for an since i have my new tune ready to upload as well i should be all set haha. Thanks much for the response

Do you happen to have the part number for the copper nuts? I'm also looking for the studs and the gasket, but I can't find the part numbers anywhere. Thanks
The install an such went very easily an my studs were perfect nuts got from mercedes ill see if i can find the info. The whole job took me about 3 hours from start to finish an the fit was excellent.

I’m hoping everything goes well with the install on my E63. Just waiting on gaskets, studs and nuts so I can try and get this done. I had to source everything from out of state since my local stealer wanted my two arms and my first born for the parts.Thank you👍🏽

Did you use jacks or a lift? I’m doing my install soon.
I got one of the gaskets from Autohauz and the other one from eBay. The copper nuts and studs I got them from Victor at mbdirectparts.com. He’s very easy to work with, and the prices were way below my local stealer. Mine is an E63 so the nuts are 11mm, not 10mm like the E55.
I did mine on jackstands i hve very tall truck stands n was very easy. I got all my parts at mb in farmington
Can it be done on regular jack stands ? I got the front on jackstanda and ramps, but I haven’t jacked the rear as of yet. Having a hard time separating the down pipes/cats from the rear conectors. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are 16 of each on the engine. You should replace all the nuts( they’re not meant to be reused) when you install the new headers. Some of the studs will most likely back out when you try to take off the old headers anyways, so it’s best to have some of those handy as well. I got all 16 of both the studs and the copper nuts just in case. Up to you really.
