First of all, I am 19, have a driver's licence, and will be getting either a 330i with Performance Package or an M3 for college.

that article you posted is purely subjective and has no real test numbers, or any test numbers at all. it is completely useless and by posting it you only prove that everything you say has no grounds.

so you're "getting" a car, which means you do not have a car yet

i really love it when you post here kain... trying to sway more experienced drivers against their cars with nothing but your meaningless opinions

tell me kain

who should we believe about cars. people who actually drive them? or a 19 boy who does not drive at all?

i could go on and on about how the m5's numbers dont add up (your claimed 3.95 0-60) and how stupid you are...

but i am going to sleep

please post some more, its really quiet entertaining

i read that article already

im sure the M5 will be a great car, all M cars have been great cars.

see? i am giving due credit why cant you?

but keep this in mind, by the time the E60 M5 arrives in the states, audi and mb will already have newer more powerful cars coming.

Why do you think power is everything?

Firstly, we shoud all stop arguing with Kain. It is time consuming, stressful and an inherent waste of knowledge.

Furthermore, I don't know what you E55 owners opinions are on this, but we all know AMG strikes a thin line between comfort and sportiness, but would you like more hardcore cars ala M5, or just the way things are. I know there are times when you wish you were driving a more agile car with a different transmission and redline, but I feel if AMG were to sway into that hardcore territory it would be most unbecoming of an auto Mercedes, no? Audi and BMW M are already there, and provide great fun, but since we do drive "Mercedes" I feel hardcore versions would deter buyers away. Since daily usability has always been a fundamental development task of AMG cars. Its not that AMG "can't" make these cars, look at the CLK-DTM, its just that AMG is aiming at a different market perspective.

Moreover, if I were to choose an executive car it would be E500 over 545 and E55 over the M5. I value comfort over 8000rpm every day to work. And I know it may not be the best thing to do, but fitting an LSD system from AMG, raising top speed to 186mph and asking Brabus for a final ratio of 3.06 from the CLK55/C55 would work wonders for the E55. Its sad that Americans can only dream about these things :p

19 and still not in college? Most kids in Dubai are barely 18 by the time they hit college. Any chance your Lebanese?

I think that M5 looks pretty good surrounded by flames. Unfortunately all the new 5 series cars I have seen in the real world have reminded me of the current Korean makers attempts at making something flashy. The do a good job at grabbing your attention, but just don't look quite right once they have it.

I figured out what Bangle has been trying to do. He's been marketing all the new cars towards buelemics(sp?). Every time you eat you can just go look at your car and it'll make you puke.

So 0-60 is NOT 3.95??? Looks like 4's to me (as it said in the article).

Most if not all of us chose MB for a reason. We know that M cars are nice but obviously something didn't start a spark that pulled people over from here to there. People feel that AMG offered something that the M didn't, is that hard to grasp?

We don't go bashing on M so why do you bash on AMG? Sure, the styling is not as good as it use to be but soul of M is or should still be there...but people also consider LOOKS of the car as well because they do drive the thing around. If you read the forum, we never say that an AMG will out handle a M...we even give props to M for it's handling, but in a straight line, AMG will give the M a run for the most part.

Stop trying to get people riled up unless that's what floats your boat...

The M5 in the article looks alright IMO. Have to see it in real life which won't arrive in Syd for a while.

but 0-60 in 3.95s sounds a TAD too quick....

Is that so?? Who is going to pay for either of those?
I can't imagine your parents buying their son a car significantly more expensive than their own.

According one BMW technician, they're working very hard to fix the high speed drag/instability problem. The rear bumper aero diffuser only helps up to 250km/h. BMW is trying to increase horsepower (sacrificing torque) to overcome the problem. Unfortunately, things are not working out which is why BMW is only quoting the concept M5 up to 200km/h and they're delaying the launch of the car.

Well said ! you got a technical expertise here !

The e-60 m5 will be quicker in every respect than the e55 until AMG decide to make the e65 that is.
The m5 will accelerate to 200kmh in under 13 seconds over 3.5 secs quicker then the e55.its 0-100kmh will be circa 4.4-4.6 as getting lower in a rear wheel drive front engined car is extremly difficult.
Seeing how the e39 is a better drivers car than the current e55 it will be difficult to see how the new m5 is not going to be substantially better. Its only downside is the 5 series is ugly and no matter how much road presence the m5 will have ,it wil be ugly.

Im lucky enough to have had the m5 and e55 (which to be frank is one of the worst cars ive ever owned ,sorry but the truth)
I have a couple of e270s at work which in my opinion are better than the e55 which is a phenomenal engine put into a chassis which can't handle it imho.

Sorry the performance numbers you have quoted are BS. The press release states 0-120mph time as under 13 seconds. 0-200kmh is 124mph as you would know. The E55 is not a sports car, so why critique it as if it was, but then again neither is the M5.
You must drive some pretty spectacular machinery if the E55, which is currently the Internationally acclaimed king of four door sedans, is the worst car you have ever driven.

Stephens, thanks for responding to these clowns.

Yeah, and I was fortunate enough to own the 545i as well. Absolutely the worst car in my garage. It's all true. Do you think you can escape the offensive exterior by hiding inside the car? No, you're stuck with the cheap and nasty interior. Do you think you can divert your attention and play the music and forget everything? No, you're stuck with iDrive too!

Talking about the 5 series, 518i is a far better car, too bad they don't make a 516i and yes you guessed it right, the M5 will be the worst.

Can imagine that M5 making all the noise drawing attention to its absolutely disgusting shape! With the speed and unacceptable ergonomics, disasters are bound to happen!! The ergonomics and performance simply don't match.
