Doesn't do anything for me. CLK55's are pretty rare to begin with, I'm not sure anyone who isn't familiar with MB would even notice the difference. There's an old line that goes on about spending money that you don't have to impress people that you don't know to buy things that you don't need.
Anyway, your E55 is pretty basic, not a high option car, no navigation, no pano roof, no distronic, no rear sunshade, no heated steering wheel, no power trunk closer, no parktronic, no dynamic seats, no vented seats. You basically have keyless go and the bixenons. Later years tend to have a lot more options, but it's really the 2007-2009 models that tended to have those although distronics was always pretty rare.

Guys, I recommend we lay off the newbie; we've (well, some of us) have been there when we were young. Lord knows I made my share of mistakes when my ego got the better of me. Humility was hard learned and hard earned and it made me a better person.
Newbie (aka FNG, "F**king New Guy"), I recommend you keep the E55 and let us together (you and the good folks on this forum) resolve the high fuel consumption on your car. It would be good knowledge for future owners and applies to anyone with an M113 motor (of which there are many). I purchased my W211 E55 as an impulse buy and quickly ran into multiple issues and thousands of dollars worth of parts for repair (c**p!) for which I did not plan. Folks here have experience. Let us assist you. Sharing knowledge is good.
God is great. Beer is good. People are crazy. I love life. :-)

Good luck with 14,500. I guess the phone weren't ringing off the hook at the old price. When retail is 13k, I doubt you'll get it. Most people know not to pay more than retail because if the car gets totaled, all the insurance company pays is retail and they usually go by nadaguide which is why I referred you to guide. Most buyers won't pay retail because retail usually includes a warranty from the dealer and they also do a little reconditioning. They're usually looking for a bargain otherwise they'd just go to a dealer. Usually at a dealer you can get them to come down to somewhere between clean trade in and retail.
As for your gas mileage, set the cruise for 60 on a flat road and switch the display to trip odometer. Reset it and see what it says for your gas mileage. If you're still getting 8 mpg at that stage, then there's something wrong with the car.

Don't overthink it and stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Just drive it and enjoy it. Contrary to what your parents may have told you, not everyone achieves their dreams. But I suppose the best time to try is when you're young and foolish, maybe you'll think differently about it in 10-20 years.

^ This is what I'm talkin about, cetialpaha5; working together to figure out why this youngster's car is only getting 8 mpg. This is a puzzle and, as an engineer, I'd like to resolve it.

I get the equivalent of 14mpg at worst on my way to work, only about 5-6 mile trip each way all in the city and I don't hesitate to put my foot down whenever I can. There must be something not right. Since the car will be in closed loop mode (feed back from O2 sensors only) most of the time that is the place to start. You have access to STAR correct? have you hooked it up?
The CLK is a nice car but it is not a good basis for most types of projects. The E55 has limitless power options for later on if so desired and there are some nice tasteful cosmetic enhancements that can be made. I find just learning about the car and doing routine and preventative maintenance is more than enough to keep me entertained and I have wired in standalone ecu's, designed turbo kits etc for previous cars.

I reached out to the kid via phone. He means well, me not being an old fart, able to be a pleasant dialog. I gave him few pointers. Saw his add link member posted on 1st. Page.

that's the reason I bought my E63S, still have it with no tint, and beige leather so most people think on the road who don't know anything about AMG, it's a old folks car just another E class MB. Until they realize who is laughing at them looking inthe rear view mirror. Too many young people seek 2 door sports cars. The fact the sedan gives the perception it's an old folks car is what gives enjoyment to the deception.
