I specifically will not buy aftermarket wheels and am sticking with wider SL550 wheels (same style as OEM E55, wider) on my FBO E55, because of the sleeper effect. No one really pays much mind to it unless they know what it is, or if it just took off like a rocket next to them.

 

 

No, I am saying that no one pays much mind to an E55 on stock wheels. However, I did upgrade my wheels to the 8.5/9.5 SL550 ones, yet they're the same exact look as OEM. So it retains the sleeper effect.

so had to drop off my E55 at the dealers bodyshop for them to repair some damage they did when lifting it .... ( long story if it wasnt warranty i would nvr had let anyone touch my car but me ) anyway they sent their lil valet to follow me there an give me a ride hm. Hes young guy... round 18 or so ... but he knows me cus im always in there getting parts. Plus he chats bodybuilding with me at the gym im a trainer at, he was at the last powerlifting meet with me and did the video of my 500 lb bench an 750 dead lift hehe.

So when i go in there we are always talking cars and he is all about the new c43 amg in sport plus and their owner happens to have a renntech tuned one, that he lets them use for transport. I dont know how much more its suppose to make than stock though but this kid loves it. But anyway he scores it, to follow me there an take me hm. As we are walking out i said lets play on the freeway, he said ok. Well i get to bout 65 mph an he pulls up and he didnt even honk just floored it ... azz .... so i floor mine, itires bark an within a few secs im passing him haha. Anyway he picks me up an couldnt stop talking bout what a beast my car is. First real race ive been able to get since selling my old ls1 turbo camaro .... cause noone pays the E55 much attention. Its definitely a sleeper for sure hard to get someone to race ya in.

 

 

exactly they dont even try i have even tried reving at some an they still ignore me uggh. I love any black series their definitely a cut above a normal amg for sure.

They are 18x8.5 et 30 and 18x9.5 et 33. 255/40 front and 285/35 rear

dudes I friggen told you to save this money, I wouldn't own a car like this unless you have at least $15k floating in your savings at any given time, and even that's too little.

Next time listen to people that have spent monthly salaries and many hours banging their heads against walls for these dumbass cars.

 

 

 

Gotta agree with this. 15k set aside for a car is a bit much. If you do your own work, if SBC and Airmatic fail at the same time - worst possible scenario, all four AND the compressor, you're looking at $2,800.

 

This has been my philosophy too. Any two common crappy things at the same time or one huge mess such as transmission rebuild.

 

 

Thats one reason i switched to the arnott air to coil conversion nvr have to worry bout the airmatic failing an the suspension feels much better than stock imho. As for the sbc i had my counts read an it wasnt even halfway and i just replaced the accumulator so should be good for a while as well as a brand new remanned mb trans an torque converter with a 3 year warranty. So for me the big items were addressed, wish there was a way to change to a more traditional braking system but every car is gunna have their quirks.
