Gonna get mine Saturday

Hello.. I'm new to the board, have had a white E55 on order since November and it's finally here. I'm going to the dealer Saturday morning and check it out. It was easy putting the deposit down since it was going to be so long before it came in... now I have to make the big decision whether to take the car or not. I havent had the chance to even drive an E55 yet so I'm a little apprehensive. I'm buying the car in Florida and plan to drive it back here to Ohio a couple weeks later (900 miles). Anybody have any input on if that will be an ok way to break it in or should I consider having it shipped? I know to vary the speed and would get off the highway every once in awhile and take some side roads.

hey welcome to the boards and im sure you will go through with the purchase of your E55. it is absolutely stunning in white. I am not sure about driving 900 miles as the break in maybe someone else could shed some light on that. good luck

The car is great, no doubt, but you might want to wait a few short months for an 05.

I found a dealer that has an 05 due in late august... but from what i have heard they arent changing... i guess the only advantage to waiting all summer would be for resale?

I bought mine in PA and drove 2,500 miles to NM. Basically broke it in in two days ! No waiting to go nuts. Varying the speed is not a problem, you will go from 65 to 130 quite frequently. I recommend treat it as a mini vacation and drive it home. You'll love it !

C 32 AMG (203.065)
There aren't gonna be lots of changes in the 05' model. Only some minor changes regarding the cell phone-kit etc.

Resale will be an important factor but if you get a big enough discount on the 04 it might equal out. There are no major external changes that I've heard of for 05 but the non visible upgrades/changes MB does with every new model year is just as important IMHO.

That's kinda how I'm looking at it.. I am leasing it through the business and would like to get out of my trade in lease before the end of June so in my case it might offset the 05 higher resale line of thinking. If I wait till August I might then be tempted to wait for the 06 model and I'll never get my car. I'm waiting for the dealer to fax me the lease paperwork so I'll have to see what last minute surprises and fees they plan to throw in the deal. They are still holding firm on MSRP price.. he says he can sell it for more than that if I turn it down.

Congratulations is in order then!

As far as the dealer selling it for more, there is always a chance that a poor schmuck will buy it for unreasonably more.

In florida? I dont think there is any market quite like cali...at this point that seems like the only place anyone will pay over sticker for this car now.

Patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait! It's just a couple of months more...get the 05. Even though you are leasing if you ever decide to get out of the lease the 05 will bring thousands more in resale. Plus the dealer still wants MSRP this late in the game?

Congrats on the white, almost got that myself but the dealer who had was asking too much over sticker- went with boring old silver instead

Please post some pics when you get it.
