2006 E55 Lock change
AMG wizards. Both of my keys do not work on the drivers door to auto unlock / lock. I looked in the forums but could not find anything. What is the possible issue and DIY to repair this?
Thanks

Yes a new door handle but how does this get matched to the frequency of the key fob and how do I change the valet key to fit the new lock or change the lock mechanism to fit the key? Also, I assume I need to remove the door panel, which I know how to do, after I do that does the new door handle get attached easily to the door skin?

Does the key fob lock/unlock everything else (rear doors, passenger front door, trunk)?
Does the mechanical key still work in the driver's side door lock cylinder?

The key fob works when you press the buttons and all doors open. When you approach the car the key fobs don't open the drivers door but does open all the other doors. The mechanical key does work in the lock.
Thoughts?

Your car has the setup where you can just walk up to it when it's locked and the door will open if the key is in your pocket?
If so, you need a new door handle. I believe they're a few hundred and are a dealer only part.

If you're creative and careful you might be able to rebuild the microswitches built into the rubber backside of the door handle. Replacing the assembly would be easier though.
