Additional Supercharger cooling radiater installed today
I just checked my modelling software and it suggests the VMAX for 3rd is 211kmh @6500rpm. Further just did the mathematical calculation and the gearing suggests 32.5km/1000rpm (20.19mph per 1000rpm), or a VMAX of 211kmh.
The answer must be tyre slip on the dyno.
Sorry for the bum steer Kens-E55. looks like the 2.83 with LSD may be the way to go after all.
For any of you looking to do similar mods you have two choices.
I am currently making up 10 kits which are for customers in Australia, I can get additinal kits made up if required. (notice how I used the term customers, I now have a new business venture, European Performance Development).
I am happy to supply part numbers for those of you looking to do the jobs yourself, but there is alot of time consuming fabrication involved, since none of the parts fit standard. The cost of the kit is signifcantly less than the cost of the parts and getting them modified as a one off, but may be usefull for those of you who have fabrication and mechanical skills. You will also need aluminium welding equipment, the ability to make up custom aluminium lines etc and a hoist makes the job a lot easier.
The finished product looks OEM. We took my car into the local service department to see if they could pick what had been done and they were shocked that it was not a factory job, not noticing that anything had been done until the changes were pointed out to them.
There are four main systems.
1. A modified SL55 low temp radiator, water pump, hoses and fittings.
2.Additional water capacity with a custom 5 litre water bottle that fits out of sight under the windscreen washer bottle with brackets and hoses.
3.Replacement air-conditioning condenser, mounts and fittings.
4. Replacement power steering cooling system and fittings.
Fitting is takes around four hours and requires the removal of the front bumper panel ( the whole front end comes away as one plastic piece).
I have chosen to use all new parts rather than modifying parts on the car so it can simlt be put back to standard if required, so it is possible to save money by modifying the pwoer tseering and aircon condensor systems in the car rather than replacing them.
For anyone interested email me through the board.
Due to popular demand, your PM Box is full! Apparently, it won't accept additional messages until such time as you clean it out. As soon as you do, I will PM you.
another tuner that products high performance differentials. Looks like they only have stuff for older models at this time though
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Went to a new Dyno Dynamics facility with latest software that is closer to Dynojet readings.
The car ran an impressive 478hp uncorrected at the rear wheels, which it holds flat from 5000 to 6200rpm.
No more power fall off, with 8 dyno runs from 2000-6200rpm done over a period of 1/2 an hour.
Max AIT reached was 48 degrees C, but generally maxed out at 44-45 degrees C an improvement of virtually 10 degrees from our last run and 40 degrees less than standard.
I'll post more details tonight along with the dyno printouts when I have time.

do you still recommend that CAI-mod? can i expect anything with gains with CAI-mod and water wetter alone? my waterpump is replaced by dealer couple days ago. do you have those CAI-mod pictures?
Thanks,
Ville

Thanks,

I am confident of achieving better than 500rwhp, without headers. If the claims of Kleemann are correct and they are worth another 50rwhp, a total of 550 should be realistic. Remember these are Dyno Dynamics, not Dynojet numbers, so are conservative producing results similar to the Mustang dyno.
