CD changer door doesn't know when it's closed? Keeps clicking. Any ideas?

Hey guys. My CD changer door just randomly decided it doesn't know when it's closed. I don't even use the thing, it's been opened and closed a total of probably 3 times since I've owned the car. Any ways, it now "clicks" as if the motor is jumping some teeth or something trying to continue to close it. It does it every time the CAN bus wakes up. So basically every time I open my car door the stupid cd changer door starts clicking. I can stop it by gently pulling on the CD changer door. Every time I open and then close it, it clicks, and every time the can bus wakes up it starts clicking, and doesn't stop.

I've tried "resetting" the audio gateway by pulling the fuse for like a half hour. Just started clicking as soon as I put the fuse back in. Any one seen this before or have any ideas? Or maybe know how to just disable it all together if possible?

I pulled my CD changer out. So that is an option for you. Or at the very least you can get in there and remove the wire for the opener mechanism. I might have some information in my audio install link in my signature or hopefully I posted the link to instructions to do this.... its been a while.
Edit- yep there is a video there.

The last time I had problem closing the CD player, I disconnected the battery for a couple minutes and that worked for me.

Same issue!

I pulled the cd changer and noticed the motor just keeps running. I’m guessing there is some sort of sensor that is not working. I just removed the arm attaching the motor to the swing arm assembly and the door can be lifted manually. I was noticing the motor ran for awhile and hope that doesn’t cause a battery drain. If so I may just snip one of the wires to the motor and call it a day. I don’t use the changer.

Can you share more pics of your iPad mount? I’ve been wanting to do that too. Thanks!

Did anyone resolved this CD player door sticking in close position not opening, just making a irritating clicking noise?

I realize this post is old now, but for the sake of shared knowledge to solve common problems:

I would suggest looking to the limit switch mounted to the side of the motor on the bottom of the CD changer housing. As I understand its operation, the limit switch is triggered when the door reaches fully closed or fully open. I think that sends a signal to the CAN bus to cut power to the motor.
  • Your limit switch may be bad,
  • the physical bump stops could be broken, or
  • the wiring could be at fault.
I've got another project where I am trying to restore operation to the door after removing the cd changer and OEM head unit. CAN evidently runs the approval signal through the head unit to activate the motor.
