Autocross
I am about to race at a local autocross for the very first time. I need some advice from any one who has done this before.
1. Should I turn off the ESP?
2. Transmission mode: M or S? Someone told me use M and remain 2nd gear the whole course. (?)
3. Suspension mode: S or S+ ?
My 07 E63 is old, it had new brake pads, oil changes, anti freeze, new thermostat around 5k miles ago. Does need any special care before the race? Thanks guys.

Leave esp on.
Leave in M mode to hold your gear.
Leave suspension in stiffest setting.
I ran Autocross for years... 1998-2012 and the best advice I can give you is " Don't look where you are going.....Look where yo WANT to go !!!! Understand ?
Have fun you will love it !!!

Overall, have fun with it but understand that you will likely not be able to be competitive in a car like this at the average autocross event.
Don't let that hold you from learning a lot and having fun.
You ought to try both modes and get a sense for it to make an informed decision, but my money is on being able to put in better times with it off.
Modulated wheel slip will cost you 1/10th of a second increments.
Power cut with this gen of ESP will cost you 1/2 of a second increments.
Agreed, but know that the car will upshift after hitting the rev limiter for a second or two. Even in M mode. I have Eurocharged send me a custom TCU firmware that does actual gear hold (but will still downshift in low RPM situations).
Agreed. Even so it will be too soft for any HPDE.
Very good advice.
