First time MB owner...
Thanks to those who provided feedback. Just picked this one up yesterday. Well cared for by previous owner. Miles higher than I wanted but lots maintenance records...
Gonna be wife's daily driver. Will keep 100% stock, no mods. Had oil change last month. Looking to replace belts soon.
Now searching forum and online vendors for correct belt part numbers.
Also looking for Star. Currently searching the forum for suggestion. I'll take recommendations from those who has one...

She always wanted an MB. I wanted a performance car(occasional weekend drives, cruising around. 😏😏 that's my story)
Did lots of research and found the E55. I'm willing to keep up with the maintenance. Hope to be able to do most of the work.
As for belts, are Contitech close to or same Mercedes? What do you guys prefer? I'm thinking they're compatible.
Do most of your guys run a supercharger scattershield? I've read nasty stories when it goes...

I got mine from latemodel21 in California https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...er-pulley.html
You can also buy them from VRP.

Congrats on the new car! I love the color but I am a bit biased as mine is the same color. If you are buying a new belt, i suggest gates HD belts.

Baby steps 😁 As repairs are needed, maybe upgrade here/upgrade there. Big jump from Jetta GLI 1.8t to this. DW has to get the hand of it first.
Saw this on the sticky thread, K080505HD or K080496HD. Some indicate they fit stock pulley a little tight. Would either one fit stock pulley w/o causing issues?
Reading this thread a lot. Still have much to learn.

Here's an easy and inexpensive appearance upgrade that really cleans up the look.

nice find/great color. First mod would be to get matching center caps. :-)
I dont run a scattershield. I have stock pulley and simply keep a very close eye on the rivet areas for any cracks.
at 91k, my water pump seal broke internally, allowing the grease to get contaminated, locking up the pulley. Broken belt and tensioner assembly. Keep an eye on front area of water pump/below it for signs of dried streaks of grease/coolant mixture. (It will be brownish). If you see it, act accordingly and replace the pump.
At 94k front original airstrut (passenger side) blew its internal seal. Went ahead and replaced both with Arnott (new, not reman) units. Didnt need star or any special tools. Removed old, put in new.
Have your control arm bushings checked. May be time to replace. If so, replacing arms may be more cost effective than replacing just the bushings.

Thanks for the tips.. Crazy weekend. haven't had a chance to look over it. Still have to compete paper work (title, registration) Not driving it until all that's done.
We also noticed the center caps faded. Gonna search for those also.
Currently looking for belts. It's all it needs at the moment.
