Funny story at the dyno this afternoon

I had a meeting at Dyno Dynamics this afternoon to discuss the purchase of a dyno. I took my new (new to me anyway) 550 Maranello and my business partner drove the E55.
I had already been to a dyno in the morning doing some base line runs in preparation of a remapping session next Friday, so was interested in seeing proof of claims of the repeatability of dyno results between different dynos using Dyno Dynamics new "shoot out mode" software.

After strapping the Merc down, the first power run was completed, with a result of 300kw (400hp).
I wasn't driving, so suggested that Dominic, who was, that he must not be using full throttle. So next run 305kw. "**** what's going on, have I broken something on the last dyno run this morning" I am thinking to myself. We check ECU settings temps etc etc, everything looks perfect. Another run was tried 299kw. What the hell is going on, maybe the dyno is faulty I am thinking nervously (and optimistically) to myself.
On the start of the fourth run, we heard a small squeal, like a bearing that needed greasing, coming from the rear of the car. On a hunch, I told him to stop, reached into the car and released the park brake. Needless to say the next run was a more respectable 346kw at the wheels, much to my relief!

BTW The 550 produced 283kw (379hp) in the same mode the E55 was dynoed.

About 465hp corrected, the uncorrected figure was 475hp.
I'll take pics in the morning of the two together.

Nothing
KW / 0.75 = HP
HP * 0.75 = KW
So 346 / 0.75 = 461

The conversion factor is actually .0745 correct to 4 decimal places ie 464.4hp if you want to be pedantic
But then again it was actually 346.1kw, so lets just call it 465hp

stephens, do you put the car in the DYNO mode according to awiner's post when you dyno the car?

I have read something about here about the car cutting power out if you don't.

Here's awiner's post about this:

Mine is an '03 model so no need, just turn ESP off. Awiners instructions don't work on my car. I have an '04 that needs to be dynoed, so I'll try it on that if turning ESP off dosn't work.

you have to press the reset butto really fast 3+ times when the car is off. It worked on my 03'.
